Basically a straight swap with the exception of: a new throttle body gasket and a different bolt for the map sensor.

So a friend told me about wheelwell on Sunday. Wheelwell is another place to catalog a build with a few cool features...

Anyway, check out the page I started... still a work in progress...

Everything is installed! I ran the car and witnessed no fuel leaks of any sort... so now I have to order some fancy hardware, install it, shine up my engine bay, and take some official engine bay shots with my dslr. These cell phone shots will do fine for now. As always I'm the 📷...

I started working on my '17 red intake manifold cover templates today...If all goes well and I like what I'm coming up with, I'll make the final product out of aluminum. So far so good.

Some progress pics...

This is my third variation... more subtle changes coming... Final will have more of a roll at the top bends instead of the harder angles. I'm more than likely going to get some text CNCed on the sides...

Ok... so I was able to do a practice run on my latest template... the early prototype is made out of .040" aluminum. The cover is small and light and will be secured with two bolts/nuts in the back and one countersunk screw toward the front.

The prototype is only placed in the following pics... I have not made any adjustments yet.
My bends were off in this prototype... they will be on point in the final version though.

I decided to do things differently here... instead of having the little extensions that meet up with the sides... I'm going to cut that shape last and rivet it to the rear bracket.

Btw, I will finish my two intake manifold cover prototypes... I may have them painted or powder coated... So I will have two extra that I will sell. Anyone interested shoot me a message and we could talk about price... I could have my painter or powder coater do their magic and sell as per buyer's color preference... added cost of course or I could sell it bare metal and the buyer is responsible for finishing it.

Looking good so far. Makes you wonder why Subaru didn't make a cover for the 17 specific intake manifold. Now seeing it with a cover, it looks so weird in it's normal configuration without one.

Have you ever considered getting a job in automotive design or parts production/fabrication? You seem to have a great artistic vision for high end functional components.

You should move overseas and get a job working for Pagani or Koenigsegg.

I appreciate the praise. I love being creative so I wish I would have been more persistent about pursuing a career in a creative field at a much younger age. A job designing and fabricating parts would have been right down my alley... oh well... this car is one way I get my creative juices going now.

I also paint and draw, do graphic design, and do photography...

Here are some things I've done

Second aluminum prototype is damn near dead on... The height is lower than the first prototype which makes it look even better.

I'm going to find someone in town that can tig weld the seams from the inside. This prototype could easily be the one but since I'm getting a text logo cut out of the cover I'm making at least one more. I will finish all my prototypes though to sell.

As a welder/fabricator, you should definitely have the outside of the seams welded, not the inside. If you weld only the inside, the outside is going to look weird.
