I was already sold, but the more I read the more I want it.

Considering that this kit was about roughly what I'd spend on just the labor to get a more traditional FI setup installed, and not even factoring the cost of parts, I'm really excited.

Time to get familiar with the OFT while I wait.

I was on reddit the other day and someone posted a pic of what could happen to a turbo (traditional) setup where there was no intercooler. Seems internal parts of the turbo broke off and the shrapnel got sucked down into the engine and destroyed the pistons. Any possibility of this with ESC since there is no "filtering" effect with the lack of intercooler?

I remember Rob calculating somewhere that the max amount of heat added by this system compressing air is 120 degrees Fahrenheit. But that only occurs for a split second and at a low rpm. At the higher rpms the system produces only 1.4 ish psi. So the amount of heat added is less. Either way this system does not require an intercooler setup.

I think the issue he's referring to is more so common with cheap turbos made in china pushing a lot of psi.

I think an issue like this is pretty far fetched, and highly highly unlikely. How often do you hear turbo guys say, "Thank god for my IC, it prevented a piece of the broken turbo from getting into the engine!"

Never. Not saying it can't happen, but theres about a billion other things that could/would happen first.

Due to the low temps and pressure that only increase when the system is "on", unlike the constant heat/pressure created by a supercharger, and no exhaust heat soak like from a turbocharger, and the relatively low overall pressures we are dealing with(no more than 5psi), the ESC really doesn't see a whole lot of stress compared to the traditional setups.
I don't know who manufactures, or out of what material the compressor wheels are made, but with sealed ceramic bearings, and no need for external oiling, the chance for worn bearings, blown seals, or extreme heat cycling to cause the wheel to become unbalanced or tilt into the housing and fracture off pieces or debris is extremely small. Even with heavy track use, I don't see this issue being a cause for concern.
my .02c

Also, I never got around to asking Rob, but could anyone PM me the price for the upgrade to the lighter compressor wheel/two stage switch?

April update: not april fools joke. For those of you that have been asking here is the waiting list....it is not 100% in order but it is close. Rob still does not have a RHD kit that is purchasable thats why there is a bunch of RHD guys at the top.

I know i keep talking that the list is 50 or 60 people long however, in the last couple months we have been adding new people that are interested....taking our grand total to....92!

If you do not see your name on this list it could be that we missed writing down your PM to Robftss or you PM'd me and it didn't get updated.

If you don't see your name on the list send me a reference of when and where you sent your request and i will track it down and get you updated on the list.

Rob is moving to target about 5 kits a month as long as parts keep coming in.

Emac and SimplePortal you are not on the list because Rob is currently working out the shipping details of your kits!

53 people from the top of the LHD list... @ 5 kits/month, that puts me about 10 months away from receiving my kit, which just so happens to be right around tax return time. Gotta love when a plan comes together!

Full throttle Electric Supercharger Build Thread

Just so people know how long the wait is, I put myself on the list last November. I'm about. 47th on the list with the RHD people. So I'm another 9 to 10 months away. So that's about a 13 month wait for me in total. Since I just picked up my car from the dealership last weekend it'll only feel like a 9 to 10 month wait.
Fenton, is there someone in Calgary that would be willing to give me a ride to see first hand how the ESC feels?

Absolutely...i can meet up with you sometime.

Yes remember that some of these people will undoubtedly drop off. Since we started going a little harder at this in January there have been 4 people that have not responded and 1 that said they were interested in full time FI when it came their turn.
