EDIT: I haven't had trouble with torque, driving in either full auto mode or manual mode. The auto mode does take longer to respond if you aren't using the paddles, but that's to be expected. But I do also realize these threads devolve into an e-peen measuring contest, so whatever.
If I wanted to drive a car like manual, I wouldn't buy a fucking auto and then use the paddle shifters, I'd buy a fucking manual.

So if the OP is looking at AT's I'm assuming they dont want to spend their entire time driving it like a MT and by your own admission (see bold) the AT is not quite as responsive.

The AT is not terrible but when I did a test drive it was just enough to be annoying for me.

First part: cool story bro.

Second part: the auto in auto mode is less responsive, yes. But the auto in manual mode shifts just as quick, if not quicker and much more smoothly than I could shift gears. So yeah, for me, it's the better option

I thought I was being nice. After all, I am a middle aged man with penis issues who drives an AT. Two of those things suck ass, and it's not the AT.

I love these AT vs MT threads especially when they're started by trolls who never show up again.

If I could afford it, I'd own one of each. I love my auto for everything it is as far as the speed and technology around the track. The only thing I miss is coasting in daily driving- you're always in gear unless you slip back and forth between Drive and Neutral. But that doesn't work well for me since I spend most of my time in manual mode. The move to neutral just isn't smooth from the manual position. For this reason only I wish I had a clutch.

I'm looking into the possibility of rewiring the paddles to make a pull-and-hold of both paddles slip into neutral until they are released. I haven't researched it enough to know if there is a mechanical requirement - it's just been a random thought so far.

Tapatalk - because smoke signals would be too easy.

...this...

I had that exact thought within the first 5 miles of driving mine. In fact, I even tried both paddles just in case that worked. In the end, I really didn't care enough to pursue it but it would be a great attention to detail thing if they had added it.

It would be a nice feature. But at the end of the day, it's something I don't NEED. Most of my driving is highway (107km commute to work) so I'm in drive with the cruise on. I also do around 110kmh on the highway so everyone is passing me and I don't need to stop, unless of course there's a traffic jam. The only time I'm really in M is when I'm on backroads and traffic is light.

I'm able to diagonally put it into N pretty quick, but I'm usually nervous of hitting reverse. From n straight to m is easy. But yeah, that's the only time I miss manual too.

I'm almost positive that somebody either tried or did do that in an AT tC.

Actually working on this very thing. Got some sketches and ideas so for, but no breakthrough yet. I'll make a new thread when I get something good going. Maybe even make it plug-and-play?
