So is this like SEMA? I assume these ITB's are being tested? I hope they aren't just some parts slapped on for good looks.

They do look so good though.

I doubt participants of TAS would F around and slap it on just for looks...maybe possible in the US/SEMA; but I really don't think Japanese would jive around like that, especially with so many other big and respected engineers/tuners in close proximity...that would be bad for business to front like that and rumors would easily spread in a tight community.

There's got to be some video of these in testing/action on youtube or maybe Option magazine video. Can't wait to see these in action.

They have some more info on the polished setup above. That car is from Weld, it's not finished and doesn't actually run. The lack of any wiring to the engine probably gives that way though.

Anyone else noticed that on the second setup, the MAF is sitting in the first trumpet..

I seriously doubt that is going to work very well. Since there is no manifold of any sort, the air flow at lower engine speeds will be in constant state of stop-start transitions with every opening of the intake valves. MAFs are not good with transitions. It's possible that they might have plumbed in some sort of vacuum manifold lower down in the trumpets to provide a speed density signal, but that won't work well at lower engine speeds given the size of those throttle plates to the size of the engine. Aggressive ITBs are always though to tune given how quick the transitions are even with the best alpha-n and speed density blend setups. I'm going to guess that this setup is going to be a pain to drive at anything other than a steady cruise over 3000 RPM.

I agree I dont think the MAF placement is ideal.

A well setup ITB setup is fine for daily driving. My ae86 had itb's before it become full race car, and I drove that every day.
