Will do, I'll be ordering as soon as I can get hold of a dealer in Oz... so far proving to be difficult.
Question: Reckon you could get away with a slightly wider tire in the rear? 225/235 w/ 35 or 40 series sidewall? |

Yeah, there is room for more tire in the rear. I've got 215/50-17s stretched back there and I can still fit a finger between the tire and the fender. I would think that a 225 would fit easily... a 235 might be getting a bit close, but hard to tell without actually mounting it. It might fit.
I probably wouldn't go with a 35-series, but a 40-series would work just fine (it's what I have up front). I have a connection for good used tires, so I mix and match different sizes when I have a chance. I might try something wider when my current rears need replacing.

Wishing these came in 42 or so offset so a non lowered car would look right. Love the wheels, just not the poke unlowered. I've got dirt roads to my parents' place with some good bumps and fun driving, so I like the 17" for sidewall. Great looking car though.

In fortunately, these wheels aren't available in Australia. Going for DPT's in 17x9 +35 instead.... hyperblack as well.
Bit dissapointed

The tires that I threw on were a bit sticker, so I noticed that it was a little harder to get the tail out around corners, but other than that there wasn't much of a change. Couldn't feel a weight advantage/disadvantage.

I keep umming and arring over 17 or 18 inch wheels. I've flipped and flopped more times than a fish out of water. The more I think about it the 17's are right wheels for the car. Im looking at 17x9+38 Work CR Ultimates in bronze or the 11R's in matte gunmetal for my SWP BRZ when it arrives. I would be lost with out DD's work into the fitment guide on this site. Thanks for your hard work.

Too bad, because I had posted the most accurate list of facts about Rota ever put on the internet. Summary: all the destroyed Rota pictures on the net were real. Rota recalled at least one model because of unsafe design. They copied a higher quality wheel but not the manufacturing process, which resulted in a series of catastrophic failures. This was in 2002. Any recent failures seem to fall within the industry norms, and are likely abuse-related. Rota grossly overstates the OEM nature of their wheels. They are ONLY on OEM Toyotas in the Philippines due to regulations protecting domestic companies. For reference a single real OEM Toyota plant in Canada (CAPTIN) produces 3 times more wheels than Rota's entire maximum capacity, yet Rota claims to be an OEM producer for many more companies than Toyota. Rota continues to copy designs. This can be seen with the Rota Grid vs Volk TE37. People say that there's only so many designs a wheel can be made. But when Volk made the (terrible) decision to polish the lip on one version of the TE37, Rota rapidly mimicked it on the Grid design. People say that they aren't hurting Volk by buying Rota because they could never afford the real wheels. But there are many inexpensive cast wheel manufacturers that do original design that are being hurt, because people's claim that they just want a good, cheap cast wheel, only really buy Rotas because they look like the high-end wheels.
