Touge also ran the DDT backwards despite CTMP being very clear that it can only be run in one direction.

I wouldn't use them as a barometer for what is proper safety on a track.

Cars can be fixed or replaced. You have one brain. Why risk it.

yea we ran it backwards because it was more fun and challenging that way. But then we got yelled at. Im requesting we run it backwards again for the DDT trackday coming up or else Im not going.

Race tracks are built and designed to run in one direction only because the run off areas, tire walls, etc. are designed for that direction only.

For CTMP to allow groups to run the track in the reverse direction probably puts them liable in the event of a serious accident.

That's likely the most retarded thing I've read about lapping anywhere.

I can pretty much guarantee that if they run it backwards again they'll never be allowed back on either track at CTMP.

The reason it's clockwise only is because that's the only way ASN Canada has approved the track to be run, and if they allow groups to run it backwards they stand to lose A LOT.

If anyone were to go off at 15 (1 if it was CCW) there is a wall that they could run into that is exposed on the end that would do serious damage and likely kill anyone in the car.

Ohhh. I see what you mean. Just didnt really cross our minds. When your actually driving it, it doesnt seem like there is any danger of messing up the corner and running into the wall. If anything, once I got used to the track, try to exit the corner as close to the wall a possible for the best driving line.

You can't see us getting close to the wall in the video since we were still learning the track and warming up. But this the backwards version.
I show up at 2:29

+1

I went to Touge's trackday last year and safety standards were horrible.

No drivers meeting in the beginning, people were passing improperly, people were signaling others to pass improperly, no rules were discussed...just pay and get on the track.

Sure, nothing has happened yet, but when it does, there will be a lot of told-ya-so's.

And I thought convertibles were required to have helmets?

you must be a very capable racer to disregard many of the safety considerations developed over the years.

How about flips flops?

It's shit like this that I'd never go to a Touge event.

If I do compete in racing or competition, I would definitely wear the correct safety equipment. I just like to be more relaxed and comfortable for lapping days. no 3 point belt =P, its too annoying

and what, praytell, is the difference between lapping and a typical time attack hot or autocross hot run?

or do you just leave your blinker on permanently and stick to the outside?

you do realize that people like you, who shit on safety, make some of the more serious organizations suffer because "cool, flip flop wearing kids" who don't like rules or forms or regulations end up not showing up, choosing to hang around places like Touge instead.

and that somehow, in their minds, they think that the other organizations are "too hard core" when the reality they'll be most safe running with them, because people who misbehave get a talking too very quickly

being out with touge and not knowing whether the guy in front of you and behind you know the passing rules would be a scary thing when you're driving aggressively.
