Monumental hype. I've said it before, unless this car is THE greatest compact car ever built, and then some, many many many ppl are going to be disappointed. Just as well, because if it is as good as it is supposed to be, many more will buy it and fall in love with it.

Toyota... You better not disappoint. It's not rocket science.

rocket science and automotive design share many elements, do they not?

Increasing efficiency may not mean loss of power. Just looking at the ITR compared to GSR. GSR's engine was rated at 160hp, while the ITR at 195. GSR's mpg was 24/30, while ITR's was 25/30.
Hopefully toyota is trying to do something similar (we can hope).

The article say "2-stroke 16x rotary prototype"
WTF does that mean. You dont have 2 strokes nor 4 in a wankel!

Also states it can run off gas or diesel. So it is not a conventional diesel motor like I imagined with ultra-high compression and no Ignition system. Should be interesting to see.

Bold concept art. Not a lot of info though. Bi-fuel / Multi-fuel sounds cool though. Wish they had a little more info than "should be more than 300hp, still has crap emissions and fuel economy, but we're working on it. Still." I have high hopes for the new Rotary, despite its poor fuel economy and emissions its a fun motor! Hope they can pull through with it.

I effing knew they would eff this up. Toyota is so full of crap it's unbelievable. An older demographic means 1 thing. More freaking money The car will end up being way under 200hp instead of the 200+ like they said at first. This car will end up being a middle aged nurse's car like the last Celica. Toyota is so full of crap. this is coming from a 40 year old with a 25 year old MK1 MR2. I had planned on buying one of these for my wife, but now they can suck it! Let me guess, what will be the next change, FWD!

@300hp, this thing is going to be marketed toward the Supra/Z crowd, no way it's going to be an entry level plaything.

I dont mind so much what the HP and torque numbers are... So long as they keep the weight to hp/torque ratios below 15 lbs per 1 hp/torque while factoring in 230 lbs for driver and fuel. AND keep it RWD.
