From another thread (my bolding):

I agree with the other poster about the detail knuckleheads. Most of them are just high school kids that don't give a rat's a** and are there to collect their minimum wage check and drive a bunch of cars doing so. To be safe, I would request them to not wash it, leave all the stickers in it and give you a voucher for the gas. When you get surveys in the mail for Toyota, they ask if you received a full tank or a voucher for a full tank. They may not allow it though because I know the gas station we use, gives us a discount if we use our fleet cards.

If you tell them not to fill the tank, which they are required to do, then you get a voucher.

Buy update

It's done. Nine of us were at the Scion dealership this morning to sign papers, very nice deal. Lots of Whiteout coming! A huge thanks to Saibot for doing such an excellent job herding the process along over the last several weeks - especially since he was doing it in the middle of his university exams. He had one on Friday and another is coming Monday.

I checked the upgraded head unit out in person, it does not do nav but as we got dealer cost I went for it, at a few hundred. It's a new unit also available in the 2013 iQ. Looks great, huge improvement over the default, good colour and resolution, and you can turn off the screen completely at night in case the LCD backlight is a distraction. Easy to use touch screen, little pressure needed.

I'm going for the Head unit too. The Bespoke unit is selling for ~800 in the US - this seems to be the same unit minus the nav & twitter. For I don't think 500$ extra is worth phone based navigation...

& Thanks from me too Sai! I owe you a coffee during exams next semester @ loo.

Big thanks to Ken from Ken Shaw toyota lexus for hooking us up with a great deal as well as giving us the free goodies! Great service from an excellent dealership.

I suggest anyone wanting to buy a FRS in Ontario go with Ken!

BTW... did he mention anything about a special launch when the FRS comes in?

Not when I was around him, which wasn't all the time. I do know when my father bought a Corolla XRS there 2 years ago he was invited in with a few other buyers for an intro talk/demo with a light meal of some sort just before the vehicle arrived.

Kenny Shaw did talk about how they (I presume Scion Canada) are looking at regional events for the GTA buyers - track days, autocross?

At least 5, maybe 6 of 9. And all MT except for one (the lone female buyer).

Looking at the HU again - I dont think Im going to buy it after all. I'm sure we can find better double din units after market. Just gotta live with the stock ugly one for a while.

^ No doubt there are better units out there but you will be paying at least double what we're getting the Scion-branded unit for. For the money I think it is a reasonable deal. The thought of some aftermarket shop ripping apart the dash of a new and totally unknown model of car doesn't do it for me.
It's a cosmetic mod to a large extent for me, I generally prefer to listen to the car.

Hey, I was one of the people in this group buy and I just wanted take the time and thank Saibot for arranging this group buy.

About the HU, did you guys notice the HU to be a little unresponsive? I was trying to change the stations with the arrows at the side (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/28/p...2012-scion-xb/) but it seemed like it wasn't too responsive too my touch. Maybe I wasn't pressing hard enough, seemed like it was more of a button. Maybe it was just me...

What did you guys think of the HU?

I did not find the buttons difficult to press - they took a bit of pressure, more than just a faint touch, but OK. I did not try the arrows. It's possible that those soft buttons on the left take more pressure than the actual OSD buttons. There are 2 types of touch screen - capacitance and one other type. One type takes very little pressure, I don't know which this model is using.
