The smaller the rims the lighter the rims all things being equal, don't go larger than 17" if you want more performance and your worried about cost.

Besides, the rubbers are more expensive the more inches you go up on your wheels which will only make your car more of a pit whore.

If you are looking to upgrade your car, stick with lightweight 17s. Bigger does not always = Upgrade
Well with these things bein said I'm debating on 17's or 18's, like I said Its my daily driver. I don't track her or even race her really. The only time is when someone comes revving up next to me starin at me an my car do I sometimes get the temptation to shut them up. Iv came to know what I can beat off the line an wat I can't. But back to my point, if I was to find some light 18's would it still decreased the output? 17s are stock size and they seem a little small it could be because the threads but I just want something more agressive

Alrighty thanks for the info my friend.

Those are facts, now what you say is absolutely true, IF everything lives in harmony then the engine could last just as long as if it never gets a turbo. At this point that is a MASSIVE "if", we don't know how much stress this engine was designed to put up with, we simply don't have the numbers to say "slap a turbo on! nothing bad will happen! you can reliably do extensive modifications and not worry about missing work cause something screwed up because this is the OP's primary car!"

Can cars be modified extensively with no ill effects?
Absolutely.
Are there risks?
Absolutely
Typically the lifespan of a car has little to do with the lifespan of the long block..

In 15-20 years with these cars, rust and the direct injection system will be their grim reaper whether they have forced induction or not.

I've heard information on stage tunings that make driving the car easier to drive. What are some of those tunes?

In the period of time before owning the car researching here I had a BIG list, as I entered into owning the car the list became smaller. And honestly it makes most sense to take your time with what you add. I have owned several cars in the past long ago, more then double your age now and THIS car is actually the one I can say where "less is more" and I think most here will agree. I probably did 1/6th of what I was going to do and glad I held back to be perfectly honest.

It is easy to do too much to this car IMO you can make it not functional, ugly, over done all too easy, start simple and do your research before buying, take your time. No matter what kind of money you make and how anxious you are to pimp it out, make smart selections it is not about what you make in life, it is about what you save really.... all IMO of course be well.

You should probably start with your suspension/wheels before any kind of forced induction. You can go up to 18's, buy a quality set of coilovers, and I believe you'll enjoy your results better for when you do decide on a supercharger

I'm assuming you're referring to the Mustang reference. You should ask @robispec about how he handed some Mustangs their "ass" on a real track at Buttonwillow.

My comparison is based on the performance of car v car.

Driver v Driver is a different topic; a guy on here would pass Porsches with a TC on a track that he was good at.

The main point was to not knock other people's rides ignorantly.

This car is opposite of FWD, bigger wheels and coilovers are most likely going to degrade the near perfect handling balance. One test showed a significant drop in track times with 18"s. A HP summer tire for the stock rims is all you need before adding a SC, the best test I saw showed a stock car with an expensive summer tire on stock wheels pulling 1g on the skidpad, more than almost any car you can buy. The stock suspension really doesn't "need" any thing to handle a SC. Save your money for headers.

If you must have aftermarket wheels look for the lightest 17"s you can afford but they just aren't needed before going FI. The soon to be released TRD springs lower the car's engneers spec'd optimal 15mm, wait till those hit the market rather than spending money on cheap coilovers if you want performance.

1. Learn about the limits of your car in a controlled setting

2. Become a better driver through professionally guided practice

3. Better tires

Safe, reliable, and easy...end thread

I prefer a fake track... turns on ps3, inserts GT5, get's comfy in my desk chair, adjusts steering position and race starts 2 minutes.

16k miles and you need new tires already... wtf... I did a full season of Auto x on the primacy's and I still have crap ton of tread left. I also have 21,000 miles on my FR-S.. are you doing burn outs...
