Wow.... never in my life. Hard headed... lol. How dare I sit here in this chair at work and text.... I could fall out of this chair and hurt myself... I should focus on sitting in the chair. I better not tell y'all I sleep when I drive too... 5minute naps all the way around I285.
no one is hard headed here! even using one at a red light can be dangerous,as referenced by a previous poster.using one in a car is a safety issue, and soon will be un lawful.statistics bear this out.it's becoming an epidemic of "carnage" on the roads. the (powerful) cell phone lobby for years
kept laws from being passed to protect their interests, but now all that is going away, because the damage on our highways and roads is immeasurable, and getting worse with each passing day.i guess the message here is one of restraint, and being cognizant of your surroundings, but even more important,is it's relevancy to OTHERS as well.it's just an unsafe practice, both to you and other drivers on the road.

All this from a guy who has been driving for YEARS without insurance. You lost all your commenting rights as soon as I remembered that about you. Thank you sir, moderator please delete all his posts... lol

I hope all the highway and roads unicorns punch you all in the rectum if you even come close to your phones while in your drivers seats....

How about this...a few weeks ago I was sitting at a red light behind an SUV, who was first up at the light. He/She proceeded to put it in reverse and start backing up to swing a right turn instead of going straight. If I had my nose buried in a cell phone he/she would have smashed into the front of my car. Instead, I was paying attention, saw the reverse lights, and honked in time to warn them...

Doesn't matter if he is stopped or not... Doesn't make him any less wrong. What do you expect to happen when you put that on a forum? He may not cause any issues driving the way he does, or at least not yet, but bragging about it on an internet forum isn't the way to go.

There are numerous situations why you should be alert at a traffic light. What would you have done if an ambulance or firetruck was flying up behind you but you didn't hear it due to your music and/or the fact that your zoned into your phone? There is a time and place for everything. If you insist on driving while using the phone, maybe you should get a civic so you don't jack up our rates.

It was mid day rush hour traffic.... no music was playing so I could hear everything. Had my phone in my hand all of 10 seconds... 5 cars ahead if me at the light... no escape route. Cars on right side median on left. And a good car length of space between the front of me. As in a whole nother car could fit in because your not supposed to pull that close... need room in case you have to pull forward for some reason in a safety situation.

Its ok guys.... we all know it not safe to have ur phones while in your vehicle. Please sign my white house petition to outlaw cell phones in cars.... no matter what.... even if they are in the off position. Thanks, much appreciated. #i.concede

That's really a boneheaded move, using your cell phone while in the drivers seat. Get an iPad in your dash and browse the forums there instead.

From the looks of it, most of the guys on here are teenagers and early 20s..

When people tell you that using phones while driving is stupid it's because they're looking out for you and not because they want to attack you. Nobody wants to see get in a crash. But you think you know better so be it.

I was only throwing out one random example. If you're focused on your phone, you aren't focused on everything you just mentioned. If it's so bad that your girlfriend is pointing it out, you obviously didn't do it this one time.

Don't give cops any reason to cite you. With this economy the way it is, they will do it for damn near anything they can pull off.

Actually.... it was the first time. Normally my phone doesn't come off my hip. And the post lost its humor and point of "damn I'm addicted to this site" but now.... fuck it. Pardon my language, but EVERYTHING was taken out of context.

@moderator.... please close this thread and or delete it.

I think the likelihood of someone hitting me while i'm sitting at a red light because i'm periodically looking down at my phone to be about equivalent to the likelihood of me getting hit by an asteroid, but I understand the argument: It IS possible, however unlikely.

Checking your phone makes you 13.2% more likely to be hit by an asteroid. Tread carefully.
