+1 on possible bad fitment quality with Seibon parts over here. I got the roof spoiler for my FR-S and it's not perfectly flush against all the lines (specifically it doesn't follow the windshield lines, the width of the roof fin is a tad longer than the width of the windshield). I usually expect most parts to 'fit' into where they go, kinda like Legos or perhaps 'like a glove', but the roof spoiler just kinda slid around, with no obvious mounting area (nor was any instructions included). It was something I noticed when I received the part and I was assured that once I stuck it on, it would be perfect. Well, it wasn't perfect but it was close enough to the point where I wasn't gonna go through the trouble of trying to get a replacement - especially since I'm not a professional (I thought maybe I was just a noob at installing it). The majority of the lines line up, but there was nothing I can do about the fact that the roof spoiler is just literally wider than my windshield. I tried to move the spoiler down the windshield (since the windshield widens as you move down, kinda like a trapezoid shape), but the spoiler is still too wide. I mean, to be honest, I'm not unhappy with the spoiler, it looks pretty good - it's just not a perfect fit and wasn't 100% what I expected.
With all that said, if I knew then what I knew now, I wouldn't have gotten the Seibon roof spoiler. I was actually initially planning to get the SN style lip too. But after trying out the roof spoiler plus the "instructional video" on how to receive a package, I'm not planning to get any more Seibon parts. I mean seriously, how good can I expect customer service to be when they try to preemptively put the customer at-fault for any/all shipping damages? |

Google "Seibon hood problems" and watch the hundreds of thousands of instant hits that come up. It's not just on our cars, its every car they manufacture parts for. By the time I got to "Seibon H-O-O", google gave me the number one recommendation which was "Seibon hood problems"..try it yourself.
I was lucky enough to have the parts given to me and didn't lose any of my hard earned money over it. I did however lose plenty of shop hours with the install which costs more than the products themselves. When I addressed the problem with Seibon they told me the fit I had was standard and I told them their standards need to be raised then. After that they just personally attacked me. I'm not attacking anyone. If the mods choose to delete my post that is based on facts, so be it. Unfortunately I couldn't report my issues to the BBB as I didn't pay for the product directly (just my employees time I paid) so anytime someone brings up the brand I'm sure to share my response. I, like many others on this forum, am an educated consumer that researches my purchases first. If you google a product name and the first things to come up are horrible reviews and bad service then most likely others will choose another brand. The Internet can build your business or kill your business just by word of mouth. If you provide awesome products and great customer service (Perrin Performance, Billet Pro Shop are on these forums and come to mind) then the google responses will be as fantastic as the parts and service they provide. Seibon is killing Seibon. End of story.

Agreed, I think @86designs was taking my comments personal towards him but I have no ill will towards anyone on this forum including him. He has a gorgeous car with a beautiful stance and a great front end. My comments are only directed at Seibon and their customer service and support. My points have been made and there's no point in beating a dead horse any longer.
To everyone on this forum and even involved in the debate, at times heated, I wish you all a very happy new year!! Everyone be safe tonight and please don't drink and drive..call a cab, get home safe, but have a blast!! Happy 2013!!

I wouldn't say to stay away, because people are going to buy whatever they want, but just be prepared if you happen to be the one on the short end of the stick. I know these parts are essentially bolt-on, but to try to mitigate any losses, it may be best to go to a body shop if you plan on purchasing. |

I think it is funny everyone is up in arms that a body part didn't fit perfect out of the box. This is the standard. It is not the end of the world, take it to a body shop, have it sanded and fit to the car. It will probably look better, than if it fit right out of the box.
I have been in the import modding scene for about 12 years now. This is the REAL way it is with body parts. EXPECT to have to do some work to make it fit perfect, sometimes it will right out of the box, other times some massaging will need to be done. If you come into it with this expectation you will rarely be disappointed. Sucks that you have to spend a few dollars on top of your purchase for your spoiler, but it is what it is. |

Bottom line is that massed produced, assembly line products have a predictable size/shape/measurements that any reputable company should be able to produce parts for. Subaru/Toyota don't individually match parts to the car, these are not hand-built. As an aftermarket company they either have to figure out how to get the math right, or they have to stand behind their mistakes and replace them. They are not producing generic parts for multiple models here, where I would expect some fitment issues and some trimming, etc. They are producing one part for one model with one set of measurements. I really like several of the Seibon hoods, but if these problems are typical, I won't be buying one. Too much money for too much risk in my opinion.
