I don't think you need to hack anything - just install it via the Google Play Store and you're good to go.

I dont think loading the app is a problem, receiving the data via the OBD into the unit is the problem. From what 2forme has mentioned the bluetooth has limited functionality.

Cool, what OS is it running?
For me the main concern is not plug & play or a perfect fit, but rather having a system running Android with the Play Store enabled so I can install and run any app I want.

Nope. Not a single wire gets cut so I don't care.
Even with the Kenwood installation they've used a Toyota specific harness.

an update on the android enabled device from parrot:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6642/h...roid-head-unit it seems they don't have clearance yet from Google which is why they're not allowed to link to the play store. |

That's a bit annoying. I see it's not running Android 4 though, I wonder if they're going to update it before launch?

Yeah, thing is that even if it's an older version you can know for a fact that Parrot's put a lot of R&D into the hardware and UI so it should be great, but there is no real reason for them not to use the latest one and surely it can't be THAT difficult getting Google approval?
The China radios have got it and also running ver4 so it shouldn't be an issue. I'm really disappointed since I've been waiting for months.
