I know, it was more than just the wheel width, but not too major of a change.
I doubt they'd do it, given that the current wheels are just a regular subaru wheel from an impreza parts bin and there isn't a subaru 1?x8 wheel with offset that will work on a BRZ w/o suspension modifications.

There are a ton of differences between the 04 and 05 STI. The 04 STI was an experiment imho, well it was the last model year before a major JDM redesign.

I'm not too torn up about the car not coming with 17x8 wheels. I did test fit a 275/40/17 A6 and at least with the front camber I have with the bolts (-1.4/-1.3) they do not fit with a +42 rim, they rub on the front spring perch. I don't think a 17x8 rim would really be much different.

2011+ WRX wheels bolt on.

+53 offset. Coupled with wider tires, the clearance would be just too small for an OEM application. Coming up with a 17x8 +4X but otherwise identical version of the wheel would eat into profits.

So to believe this rumor I'd either have to see some 17x8 Toyota parts-bin option or wait to see 14+ WRX stock wheel options first.

PS whoever said about debadging your car - if you want to do it, do it. You aren't going to get hit with a winning protest that it provided a performance advantage.
No, but to the letter of the rulebook you can get protested. Is it incredibly douchey? Yes. But is it legal? No.

Unless you have serious a-holes in your region of participation, just go forth with it.

We haven't made any kind of final plans but Chris and I talked about him coming down to drive my BRZ if I can get it prepped for the Dixie National Tour. I am good friends with both Bart and Chris, and while Bart is an excellent driver, he isn't quite the alien Chris is. (Hopefully Bart doesn't read this. )

I don't think the BRZ is going to catch Chris driving a MSR which he has very well prepped and has been driving for years now, but can it be competitive in CS, sure.

Debadging protests are a stock class inside joke. Just put them in the glovebox LOL. No key would protest you for it.

I didn't think that the BRZ/FR-S stood a chance in RTR either until after the first day of Nats and I was just under 2 tenths behind Stephen and Lance with a car that had stock dampers, a front bar that was a bit too small, stock exhaust (8whp or so could be gained here), and all of 3 minutes of seat time on the practice course of which 2 minutes was on the tires we competed on. Day 2 I fell back 7 more tenths but there was at least 4-5 tenths raw time that could have been made up with mistakes in my driving. I did not have much experience on the Z1's and was told by a couple different people that they take 30-40 runs to reach their peak.

I have a good amount of experience competing against Lance who won RTR at Nats in a similar Genesis as we both ran almost a full season against each other. My car was the track and his the R-Spec. I was giving up about 80-90lbs to him due to the trim level. Generally speaking at the end of each event, he beat me but we battled back and forth often changing the lead quite a few times at each event within a tenth or so of each other. For those that did not follow the Bridgestone National Street Tire Tour in 2011, Lance won most every event overall that he attended except for maybe one in which Bart beat him but it was very close. At the 2010 Bridgestone National Street Tire Challenge, I bettered Chris Fenter in his MSR driving my Genesis by .512 seconds on index to take the overall win.

After driving the BRZ at Nats, I have no doubt a fully prepped BRZ/FR-S can win in RTR with a driver that has ample experience in the car.

I will be running a factory built ZOK NA Solstice in RTR next year.
Since the ZOK is still legal for stock, do you think the BRZ/FRS is a better car for stock class?
What about the MSR?

It's still the same PAX and those are still the top cars in CS. The MSR being the lightest is the one I'm most curious about as you know how ST classes often come down to weight.

um...I'll believe this when I see the dyno chart that proves it

Seriously, I've been keeping loose track of the postings over in the exhaust-engine-etc forum and the best dyno result I've seen from a system with the secondary cat in place is only ~3 hp.

The BRZ is not a CS car if you keep the ZOK/MSR in the class. Let's not talk about the 370z ..
I am an original owner of a ZOK Solstice and think that it would be a good thing to kick the option packages up to BS and kick the CR S2000 to SS.(not AS).

I haven't had much time on the forums as things have been so darn busy...but this is one of the few threads I skimmed over and remembered.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13011

I didn't read the whole thing but have heard of Vivid Racing. I don't have much personal experience with them other than ordering a few parts here and there so I can't say how reputable they are or the tests they performed were. I also didn't read thoroughly enough to know if the Agency Power Catback deletes the second cat. Sorry if my understanding based on that information is wrong.

Even without the extra power and just another ~20lbs of weight loss with a muffler delete and the rest of the car fully prepped, my thoughts are the same...it can win...at least in RTR
