I havent sat down to read 4 pages of info but i see you almost take your redline to 8k rpms is it safe to adjust the rev that high or did you do something to support a high redline

That is awesome. Good runs, car sounds like its running healthy. And that mileage is awesome. It makes me wonder who did the tuning on the OEM side of things. I wonder if they were trying to balance cat efficiency with mileage or something.

Cat lifespan I think, which tells you a lot about OEM priorities because emissions>>>fuel economy and running extra rich increases emissions :O

I'm curious of this as well. I'm sure Subaru would have made the engine rev to 8k if it would have been safe and warranted more performance. Is there anymore power outside of 7400? |

What are you talking about? You clearly need to re-think your understanding of what miles per gallon means and how it's calculated. If you would have driven another 30 miles you would have use another gallon of gas (a little under).. You can't just keep driving and then use the same calc for your miles per gallon average. You need to stop putting so much faith in the dash display and start measuring with real life variables.. Here's a proper way to measure gas mileage. -Fill tank.. allow pump to stop when it reaches pressure level and shuts off automatically.. consider this "full" -reset one of the trip meters to zero before you leave the gas station. -Drive car until you are low on gas (at least under 1/4) or until the light comes on.. depends on preference. -Go to gas station, fill gas tank until pump automatically shuts off. Consider this full. -Now calculate.. number of miles on trip meter / gallons filled. This is your miles per gallon. repeat cycle at least three time to get an accurate average. I put very little stock in the on-board trip computer. I'm normaly surprised if it's within 2 mpgs of reality. Still, having said that.. 36mpg or anything within 2 of that is a very good result.. I have no doubt the tune improved how the engine runs. I'm sure it's smoother, has more power, and is more fuel efficient.. But I put zero faith in your measurements at this point. Please do them properly and report back to us. |

For those with turbos there is a lot of power north of 7400 it seems. So these tunes could be huge.
If the tune nets my car 10+ wheel hp for 800-900 dollars I would pick it up. I ordered a SRT header back exhaust and plan on running an intake as well - so if I net 20hp at the wheels I would be quite happy (exhaust is dyno'd to add between 8-12 whp depending on rpm)

Mods, can we get an "MPG/Fuel Efficiency" sub-forum created? I keep coming back to this thread looking for performance information, but make a sad face every time.

I was just worried when I read the part where you said that driving an extra 30 miles would increase your mpgs from 36 to 39.. hopefully that was a mis-type or accident or something. No offense meant.. I'm glad your testing things out and I'm really happy to hear about all the positives from the tune. |
