For Temptation T8, it's borderline 2nd or 3rd.
I use 2nd gear into Beak T12A, 2nd or 3rd for Hook T14 and 2nd through T18-19 before getting on it for the main straight.
Following on to this on a snowy day.

Just curious what speeds you are at when you start your braking for the various turns and what your speed is entering/through the turn.

Trying to get a feel for the "Holy Shit!" factor.

The only one I really look at is the top speed down Rocky Road. This gives me an good indication of how well I exit T4. I'm usually around 185 before I hit the brakes and go down the hill for T5.

Otherwise, I don't pay attention to the speedo at all, I focus on the track's reference points for braking and turn-in to pull a consistent lap.

Jealous of you Eastern Ontario boys, nothing in the SW if you want elevation changes to spice up track day. Grand Bend is cheap, Cayuga's a blast but Calabogie and TMP look like a totally different level of driving fun.

Gonna check out Waterford Hills in Michigan next season, only 90 minutes from Sarnia, and looks like it might be a nice challenge.

Don't count out Mosport. They are completely rebuilding their Driver Development Track, so it will be much more fun and much longer (oval is now gone). Some elevation changes there too.

Intend on getting to Mosport for sure, friends are there for bikes every summer. But the price is pretty steep, and it's more than three hours from home... Makes for a long day unless I do an overnight, which adds to the cost. Same goes for Calabogie, but I hoe to drive both at some point.

Really hopeful about Waterford Hills, my mom's boyfriend drove his old TR3 there 40 years ago and said it was a blast. Just hope they've resurfaced it since then.

Calabogie is a add-on track that's quite accurate.

Here's an MCO thread that discusses rFactor setup.

I've driven the sim, pretty accurate in terms of braking and turn-in. Loads of fun. Maybe I should host an rFactor session eh Norman?

(oh, that reminds me of GT5 racing tonight.)

We drove Watkins last spring with ChumpCar. Long track, all I can say is it is a fantastically fun track, good speed and some some ballsy sections where you don't dare lift once your committed. I'd love to run the FRS there but when you can run the track in a car that you can go 10/10ths regardless of what it is, it's just not the same when you run your own car.

I found this when we raced Mosport this past thanksgiving weekend, two days 7 hours of racing each day... Lots of fun, scary track in the rain. But when I opted to do some laps in the FRS with the ASE lapping club on the monday, it didn't really feel the same, still did about 2 dozen laps and had fun but you still knew in the back of your head you were not even close to trying to eek out the best time from the car....

YMMV.

either way both track are really fun to drive and watkins is only like a 5 hour drive from toronto.

Funny story.

We were talking about my hopefully new wheels on the weekend a family gathering and the wife just realized that the price on the website that I gave for the wheels I want is for a single wheel, not a whole set. Oops!

Hey All,
As Norman already mentioned above, MCO is planning 5 full lapping days for 2014 which presents a great opportunity for anyone to come out and learn how to drive on a track or even get more seat time and improve the nut behind the wheel!

Also, some great news that MCO has come up with some great sponsorship partners:

MCO has teamed up with the Ferrari Club of Ottawa for 2 events, the lapping day during the Ferrari Festival as part of Italian Week in June and another event with the club at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant in October!

Here are the track dates:
  • May 23 - Calabogie
  • June 15 - Calabogie with Ferrari Club
  • July 21 - Calabogie
  • Aug. 15 - Calabogie
  • Oct. 4 or 5th - Tremblant with the Ferrari Club

This is the year to get out and try out the track!

Hope to see you out there.

Here it is, have over a year to plan for this one!
Kinda like a Targa Ontario but instead of racing on public roads, you race at various Ontario tracks.
