wow. really?
i am not looking to build a dyno queen, my main goal is a flat torque curve = linear power curve so i guess stick with stage 1 with catted headers and FP ? can someone point to a dyno compilation for OEM vs Stage 1 vs Stage 2 ...etc. i am searching but keep finding conflicting pieces. |

the reason i am harping on this is stage 1 has been a bit disappointing for me (drop in filter + ARK) and i have JDL UEL catted + JDL UQ FPOP on order and curious if stage 2 has anything to offer over stage 1 with my setup or i may have to stick with stage 1 with Catted setup, but based on dynos on the interweb and my own experience i am not sure there is a lot to gain with stage 1.

It's a common misconception that going for a bigger exhaust nets more power. Often times, you lose power by just going bigger. With a small 4 banger 2.0L NA engine, you don't need anything bigger than the OEM size (that's why they chose it). You may see some more high end power, but how much time do you spend at 7000 RPM? You'll lose low end torque where you do actually need the power. But it'll look good on the dyno....
However, losing the cats does a lot of good for your power curve and helps a lot with the torque dip. I'm not a tuner, but I do know that cats limit how much exhaust valve timing you can run because you can melt the ceramic that the catalyst material is in and then you can do actual damage to your engine. Stage 1 or 2 isn't just tuning to push it as far as you dare- it's tuning your ECU for the mods you have, which happens to be a catless exhaust for stage 2. |

do you have to reflash stage 1 after adding catted headers to and OEM setup with stage 1?

Edit 2: That file worked, I can use the realtime data display now!
Edit: I think I figured it out. I found a "FRS Template 8.2.SLT" file that @steve99 had posted a while ago and updated that to the OFT. Will try it tomorrow. Bump. Anyone know? It appears that the link to download the "template file" is no longer working. Any help? Thx

question for the community: 1 day after JDL UEL HFC CATTED header install (o2 spacer for sensor) i got a 2096 code, running stage 1, so is this because stage 2 is required to clear these codes due to catless ?? i am guessing the HFCat even with the spacer is not good enough for ECU or is there another issue?
please advise |

https://www.obd-codes.com/p2096 The code you might throw running anything but stock header on stage1 tune is P0420 cat efficiency and is easly disabled in tune using romraider. P2096 indicated a serious fueling problem in that the fuel trims have maxed out (40% adjustment) and the ecu is still not getting the correct afr. As you have jist installed header its most likely a exhaust leak or damaged 02sensor. or you put the 02 spacer on the front sensor. if you have access to tune you dont need any spacers and they should always go on rear sensor after cat, but remove any spacer . log the tune you will liky see very high ltft and lean afr, this is most likely due to your o2 spacer being on front sensor of exhaust leak or damaged sensor or sensors plugged into wrong socket black to black and grey to grey the grey sensor plug is for front sensor |

thanks, i put the spacer on the rear sensor behind the cat next to the connector to the overpipe (See pic), thought that it would give more space for O2 sensor and maybe was gonna try without a tune in the future.
