From my experience with about -2.3 degrees camber (I wouldn't go much more than this, and I may go with less now that I can.)

A 265/35 on a 18x9.5+38 rubs the fender/bumper joint where that plastic fastener is.

Move that to a +44 offset and everything clears, but the bracket that kinda keeps the e-brake cable along the trailing arm is less that a finger-width from the wheel.

Seeing that, a 285/35-18 on a 18x10+45 will need some slight modifications.

First, that bracket will have to be bent further in. Wheel will be 7mm closer than my current one, which will hit those brackets. Not a big deal, they bend relatively easily. The tire will clear inside fine.

Outside, the wheel is fine, but the tire will be 3mm further out than the 265 at +38. That will mean more rubbing at that joint. I haven't looked too closely at how important that fastener is. If it isn't too important, you could dremel it and some of the bumper lip below it. If it is, you may need to do a slight pull to that area of the fender.

Now, less negative camber will mean more work on the outside.

It looks like to me that 285/35-18s are possible. But I think you could go with 275s for a lot less hassle with no appreciable loss of rear traction. Hell, if you're focused more on drag racing than AutoX/Trackdays you could probably do just as well with 265 drag radials and a lot less negative camber than you would with a wider tire and more.

Very true, but the same width. I'm not sure how that would change the outside rubbing however. My tire rubbed on the shoulder between the contact patch and the sidewall. So a smaller diameter would help clearance, but the width might push it back towards a taller part of the tire.

I think it'll still rub a little bit. You might get away without having to do much of anything on the outside. The brackets on the inside will still need to be bent since it's a wheel issue.

you need coilovers, an 18x10.5/11.5 +42-35 ISH i think plus a 285. obviously need control arms toe arms bolts adjustable top hats. rolled trimmed rear, rolled front.

gotta look into it some more.

you can run it on an 18x10 sure. it all depends WHAT tire.

dont get cought up in the size. from what i notice the increase in contact patch from a 265-285 isn't much more in the MPSS zII tire category...but you get a lot more weight added on. honestly with a GOOD tire you wouldn't need more than like a 275 in the rear to hook up in a boosted car.

is a 18x10 285/30 r18 possible?
How would it compare to a 17x9 255/40 r17?
