Can I just look at which color wires are going into which pins?
If you want to remove the tape, you can check- each wire should go directly from one pin to the other, i.e., pin 4 to pin4, pin 5 to pin 5, etc.

Also, for anyone else reading too:

If the problem is that the DRL is not coming on at all, please make sure the DRL is supposed to be coming on to begin with! You must have the vehicle started and running. Autos must be in D, manual must have ebrake down. You might need a friend to look and see. Please be safe when testing.

Was going to ask about this myself. I'll double check mine when I get home tonight before I install it.

So I received the module yesterday, installed it following the instruction on DD's youtube video.... one of the module's plug's under clip broke off (only slight pressure), was still able to plug everything in though... but car battery dead ...couldn't start the car, it's been sitting for only a week...

well, long story short, was able to jump start it...with car started and running and hand brake down, the boomerang and DRL don't light up. They only light up when I put my car in gear...

DD, is mine faulty also?

This part of it bolded is normal because you need to be in any other gear BUT the "P" gear for it to come on. Not sure about the boomerang though. But since the DRL isn't lighting up I assume it's connected to the boomerang with the new module.

Try setting it to "Auto" mode on your headlight stalk and see if that turns them both on with parking brake down and in Neutral, with the car running.

No, this module is fused and powered through other ignition-controlled components. It does not draw directly from battery. It did not make any impact on your battery in any way. Sounds like it's time for a new battery!

Your vehicle needs to be in gear for the DRL to come on, so everything is working properly.

Correct, this module does not change when and how the DRL comes on.

You do need to have the car started, with the car in drive or neutral if it's an automatic, or handbrake down on a manual. Make sure you're on a flat surface when checking, or a have a friend look. Thanks!

I have no idea how the BRZs with auto transmission work, but BEFORE the mod, did the DRLs light up while you were in neutral?

Sounds like theyre working fine if they light up when you're in gear.

@jflBRZ
My gar is in the garage for the winter but I'm PRETTY sure the DRLs don't come on with a manual transmission unless it's actually in gear. I vaguely remember trying to take a look once and I couldn't.

DRL comes on as soon as you drop the parking brake on the manual transmission.

We have a manual. Car must be running and ebrake dropped fully for DRL to come on.

I believe for automatic, car must be running and in Drive.

Again, this mod does not change when the DRL works, just what lights come on as the DRL. Thanks!

@KelvinBRZ @PandaSPUR

Here is a pic of my 6k headlights: (I know it isn't the best picture but it gives you an idea, I'll add a night time one tonight.

I will say the light isn't as effective as 4300k, that being said I think I will be trying the 5k lights in the near future to try and get more actual use out of the light. I don't dislike the 6k, but I think the 5k gives you basically the same aesthetic look with more functional use.

While I was out there I checked my module and tried my lights on auto, in neutral, and the car running and.... voila
