Install your oil cooler... Even if it's not seeing direct airflow in traffic it will still make a huge difference in oil temps. If you're still having issues put a small fan behind it.

I have a stupid question- how does removing the wheel well liners affect underhood temps?

There is a website called Never Ending Details that has them for $230.00 give or take.
Does this not just transfer the heat from the oil to the coolant though? Makes me worry if I'm adding more heat into a system that already can't keep up.

Buy a proper oil cooler and maybe a fan to blow on it. No oil/water BS. Maybe get a larger radiator. Wrap the header. Blanket the turbo. But really, the car should NOT overheat in traffic. Maybe something wrong with the tune? Is it not turning the fans on? Who tuned it for you anyway? Please don't say "FA20Club".
Bought the kit second hand (only really the header from FA20 left now, Garett turbo is solid). Header is wrapped and turbo has a blanket (forgot to mention those). I had it tuned locally on a dyno. Not a huge fan of my tuner though...

Other than temps to turn on the fan, how could the tune impact in traffic overheating?

Hence why after reading the thread that is my first option. Just seeing what else I can do.

The previous owner of the kit had no issues (he ran 91 with meth all the time though) I'm running 94 so maybe that's part of it.

That is correct, they work using heat exchange. For some reason I thought you stated that your pain point was oil temps in grid lock traffic. I suggested the laminova type being that air cooled coolers are only really effective when the car is in motion. I have never seen my coolant go above 193 so I've never had the concern that you do, which is a very valid one.

With oem settings the fan start at 212f with the ac off, with the ac on the thermostat open at 195f...

The oil to air oilcooler are heat exchanger but out side temp are lower that normal operating engine temps (coolant)... They do work perfectly (we're I have mine) with the ac on (the engine oil cooler) oil temps 195f... As the coolant...

Running lean. Running rich. Too high an idle. Wrong timing of valves, fuel, and ignition. Who's the tuner? Got logs of the car in these conditions? Idle. Part throttle. Even if the tune is good, an air leak could cause an issue. A bad maf. How rich does the exhaust smell?

AFR looks solid everywhere. Haven't been logging in traffic, never had the laptop plugged in when not on the track. Exhaust smells normal.

Chapter 1..................................Shrouds

The car is only over heating on traffic.

If your problem doesn't improve with the shrouds then and only then look for other cause.
