That's not how it works. The MOCAL plate has the bypass fully open to let oil flow by without using the core but there's always some flow through the core, which is by design. If you didn't have that constant flow you'd get a big air bubble in the core until it got hot enough to force flow through the core. As the thermostat warms up it closes the bypass and forces more flow through the core, but thermostats don't just snap open at a set point so it's going to slowly close forcing a bit more oil through the core.

Yeah, some, not tons which is what yours looks like.
Looks like you got a 74C version instead of an 80C. |

I don't think Mocal makes any that aren't 180* so I dunno. I could go drive my GTI around and see what it does as it has the exact same kit but puts a lot more of a thrashing on the oil.

I made the mistake of dialing my MAF scale on the first tank of E85. Even though I ran down the tank to less than half a gallon before topping off 11.5gallons of E85 to the tank, the difference is pretty big. Fuel trims went up as much as 8~10% in CL. AFR were around .4 leaner in OL.
I was actually dialing the MAF while testing the amount of power gained with my new exhaust setup on the first tank and wanted the afr to be as close to target as possible. I didn't gain quite as much as I'd hoped for. Perhaps the higher e content of the 2nd tank will yield a couple more ponies. *fingers crossed* First tank: http://datazap.me/u/solidone/plm85b?...zoom=3572-3789 Second tank: http://datazap.me/u/solidone/plm85-2...zoom=4474-4694

When you load it to datazap you should have a URL that you can post so people can click that.

You can use smoke to find the leak. In future log these. its not going to blow up or anything but the high ltft like 15% up to about 4000 rpm indicate a leak, assuming you intake is stock ? other than bpb. its likely sucking in unmetered air through a intake manifold hose thats not connected their are several under intake manifold., you can usually hear a sucking noise. im going to put my money on an intake air leak as the high ltft persist higer in the rpm range than you usually get with a header\overpipe gasket or o2 sensor leak did new gaskets get used for header install ? but dont rule out a header gasket leak especially if gaskets were reused. |

Only BPB on the intake manifold. I left the parts at the shop during the install, I'm pretty sure that the installer must have used the original ones if OFH didn't supply new gasket.
I guess I will have to reinstall and seal both headers and BPB? |

yes re-used header and overpipe gaskets will almost certainly leak after a while
