Begun, the forum wars have.

Why does everyone always feel the need to boast like they have the greatest car on the planet? I buy cars because they're my personal preference given my price range. Are there other really great cars out there? Of course. Are there cars out there that perform better than mine given certain criteria? Absolutely. I buy cars because they're the best mix of the things I like, but at the same time I maintain a huge amount of respect for other cars and what they do well. No need for the hate.

everytime I see a new member, less than 20 posts and they are from somewhere in Florida, I know just to block them. Its just easier that way, much less stress on my side of the computer screen.

Do you know why I opened an account here? Because someone on the Z forum pointed out a hate thread on this site for the Z. I read that thread and decided it wasn't just a bunch of haters.

It happens. I agree with you, though. True car enthusiasts don't hate, we appreciate. Even if I clown your car with an occasional joke on the internet, if you pulled up next to me, I'd lean over and check it out.

A sports car (or sportscar or sport car) is a small, usually two seat, two door automobile designed for performance driving and maneuverability.Sports cars have been either spartan or luxurious, but good handling and minimum weight are requisite.

Call me insane but doesn't the 86 fit that better than the 370Z?

I'm willing bet anything that a 370Z would really appease me as a GT car but nothing more.

Just FYI

370Z:
Curb weight 3,232 pounds
Wheelbase 100.4 in
Length 167.1 in
Width 72.8 in
Height 51.8 in

350Z (07+)
Curb Weight 3,339 lb (Base)
Wheelbase 104.3 in*
Length 169.8 in*
Width 71.5 in*
Height 52.1 in*

BRZ
Wheelbase 101.2 in
Length 166.7
Width 69.9
Height 50.6
Curb weight 2,762 lbs.

I always laugh at the misconception that the Z is an *expensive* car. I got mine brand new in 2010 (with 4 miles on the odometer) for under 30K. And really, who uses a 20-40k car to get laid? Girls don't give a shit about that. Maybe in a 100k+ car, MAYBE.

I've kicked around the thought of checking out a BRZ sometime when the hype fizzles down. I love the way it looks and will wait to see what the aftermarket has to bring to the table. I'm just not sure it will impress me the way I would want it.
Its not a misconception, it just depends on where you live.
in the states the prices are much closer to each other. In Canada the only cars that are close in price to the FRS/BRZ are the Gen coupe, Ford Mustang V6 and the Miata. Those same cars that get compared to the FRS (the 350/370, RX8, STI, BMW 1 series, etc) They're all AT LEAST 35k up here in Canada unless you go used because of the large "Canadian" price differential.
That's why we canucks say they're expensive, as its almost a no brainer to pick a FRS/BRZ over them.

True, but in the States, one can haggle a Z or Mustang GT very close to the cost of a BRZ, and only a few thousand more than an FRS. That may change in a matter of months, once dealers stop demanding MSRP for them.

Well yeah, ilke i said the starting prices for those cars are closer to the FRS/BRZ than in Canada, im not surprised you can haggle that down.

Its probably possible to do it with a Mustang or Gen coupe up here but with say a Z or an RX8, you're trying to get the dealer to take at least 10k off the selling price lol. Dealer sales events dont even reduce the price by that much unless they're desparate to rid themselves of inventory.

It's also worth noting that Canada doesn't sell base model Z's. Every Z in Canada comes out the door with sport and touring packages. That's also a part of that price hike. So, yeah, that'll definitely run up the price.

Why isn't this thread just merged with the 370z vs. thread just a few posts below? It seems to encompass all the same discussions, hating, and nonsense.

I agree. It would be easier to only have to look in one thread for all your hating and nonsense, rather than requiring you to type the same thing across multiple locations.

hope you've got a sense of humor

I enjoy my BRZ. If they enjoy their 370z, good for them. I personally do not like the styling but to each their own.
