You can twist the lens to face more forward vs down at the hood. Just be careful, it does feel like cheap plastic
Wish I had thought of this placement, I have my off-center, tucked behind the mirror on the passenger side. One question, though, in that position, are you able to remove the camera? I may re-position mine if you can get yours out.

There's no battery, its has capacitors so all power gets cut once the car is off. I've had it plugged in since the day I bought it and car battery is fine.

Please do correct me if I'm wrong on anything, my memory isn't as good as it used to be - think 12 hour night shifts is finally taking a toll.
It has some battery, probably a button cell of some sort. Only problem I have come across is that leaving it out in the sun in the heat of the summer probably killed it--it wont operate for more than a couple minutes on its own.

Never even remotely wanted a dash cam until after today at work. Was working in Toronto and I apparently cut someone off (really, I had my signal on, started the lane change and the dude behind me gunned it to try and keep me from making the lane change). Dude fucking followed me, I had to stop at a light though. And he was screaming at me. Lowered my window and apologized, got called a "fucking little bitch ass ***got". I pulled away, he still followed me. Luckily when I got to where I was going, I was meeting a coworker to finish a project. Dude took off after he saw it wouldn't be a 1 on 1 confrontation.

That made me decide it's worth the piece of mind if that shit ever happens again. Fucking Toronto man, I hate that place.
It's a good camera, had it for over a year now with no complaints.

Now I just need to find another adhesive pad...I got a second one with the camera originally, but screwed up my mount initially. Thanks for looking into that!

No worries! You could probably use 3M double sided tape.

I thought about that, but I am not sure if it would withstand the weather and freeze/hot cycles we find here. I am actually waiting to hear back from Ojocam right now to see if I can either purchase a new set of pads, or have them point me in the right direction.

Which one did you get, if I may ask?

I picked up the Mini 0805. It's a knock off of the Ojocam. #repsftw!

I have the ojocam pro 2, based in part on @HunterGreene recommending. Really great quality, but battery only lasts 2 hours or so if on motion detect mode when parked. I was actually just checking out their hardwire kit today, but want to do more research.

Funny, I was just looking at the same thing earlier. If you decide to go with it, maybe a "How to" thread is called for, because I have no idea where I would wire it in.

I think their hardwire kit comes with an 'add a fuse' so all you have to do is remove a fuse from 'accessory' in the fuse box, plug that fuse into the 'add a fuse' the plug it back into that available slot. Then attach the ground wire to a bolt.

Sorry, my explanations suck. I found a video though. [ame]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3I9FZL8btqc[/ame]!

Helpful video, because I have no idea how to do it. If the description is correct, the ojocam hardwire kit also includes a low voltage cut off switch?

Looking on their website, there's a kit with and without the cutoff

Edit: Looking at the video, he wires it to the ACC position, which would actually turn it off when the car is off, so you would want to find a "live" fuze, aka one that has power even when the car is off

@soulreapersteve have you ever tried using the motion detector or g-sensor as a parking mode? parking mode is pretty important to me and if those work good for this cam as a parking mode, ill be pulling the trigger

thanks

For the ojocam, the motion detect works decent, its just battery life that makes for complications.
