What I need to know now is, Scion claims that they no longer will negotiate on prices. The MSRP price is what it is. At the corporate level, this seems to be true since the only incentive to move out leftover 2015s is the 0.9% financing.

In your experiences, are prices really non-negotiable? If so, then, is there really any reason to "shop around" for the best deal since everyone should have the same prices (except some dealers seem to tack on more factory accessories than others to boost the price)?

Thanks for your help. I need to buy an FRS in the next few days (and really join in with the discussions in these forums) since my DD was totaled last week...
if you want to shop around you can get a BRZ limited for almost exactly the same price as a FR-S. mine was about 500 more than a barebones frs for a limited with all the options.

Wow do I feel great about my 3-4% interest rate (threw a bit on my mortgage at 1.49% and on my line of credit at 5.5%) If you have the ability to go for a line of credit I would recommend over auto financing as interest rates are normally quite a bit lower

If you know you want a new FR-S start looking in a X mile radius of were you are at for the car you want. I have had the best luck dealing with the internet sales department vs the sales floor at the dealership. I bought my tC out of Ames IA and my FR-S out of NC. Everything can be done via emails vs phone so you don't have to deal with random calls while you search.
With the 2016 models out most dealerships are wanting to get rid of the 15's so that's your best bet for a deal. It just comes down to what they have it listed for and what options are on the car.

Sometimes the trip is worth it for the car and beings it's new you are not "risking" much by traveling. Plus you have a sweet car to drive back and get a feel for.
With the factory warranty if you found even a 2013 as long as it's never been titled/registered the warranty starts from the day you buy it.

cars.com is a great tool to see what dealers are trying to sell these cars at. Prices can vary widely.

Scion dealer here in Tucson has all their 2015s marked down over $2000. You can go in right now and get a great deal... I bought a new 2016 from them at the end of July, and they had just got it on the lot. Went through USAA car buying service (uses TrueCar) and got $1000 off the price, plus free tint and trunk mat. That was easy.

I did it all beforehand. Called dealer up to verify the price, they agreed, went in to the dealer, guy had it all ready to go. I haggled a bit on my trade-in, but ended up getting what I wanted. Already had 0.74% interest rate loan setup through USAA beforehand as well so there was nothing to do but plug in the numbers.

If they want to sell you a car, they'll negotiate. If they don't, you're better off just leaving.

Is that an introductory rate, only good for 6 months or 12 months? If not, what bank is the CC with and what's the spending limit?

maybe think about new old stock? I bought my 14 in feb of thisw year. car was 21000. all in with gst for 24600. I had to pay manitoba provincial tax when I insured it. Bought it in alberta where there was no provincial tax. So I got a huge manufact rebate plus large dealer discount.

I paid 24,205 + fees, 29500ish OTD, - 1k trade in. 0 down.

Being 21 with 'okay credit' (650 at time of pull), was financed @ 8.9% b/c of 14 month credit history + no cosigner.

Haven't ever missed a payment for anything, however, and I suppose that's why I was able to get it w/o a cosigner.

Secured CC, good forever until I want to upgrade to unsecured, Alaska USA, capped myself to 500, can increase as much as I want if need be.

No haggling in Honolulu at Servco Scion. $31,000.00 out the door with $5000.00 down payment ....credit score was over 860 so they told me to bring the 5 grand when I pick up the car.... I also qualified for .09% financing which comes to about $558.00 interest for 5 years....Only one Toyota/Scion dealership here and they don't belong to Toyota USA.

Thanks for all the input and ideas!!

Buying a new car from out of state is a no-go in California; at least it was when California had its own emissions requirements. I am not sure if a new "50-State" emission control car can be "imported" into California.

I really hate this car buying experience. But you gotta do what you gotta do...
