I was curious if there has been any update to this? I too leased my FR-S and the experience could not have been better. The dealership and finance guy explained everything and I have no shortage of documentation showing what the dealership and Toyota is responsible for and what I am responsible for. My lease is through Toyota Financial Services (TFS). I put $1K down, I have GAP coverage, and a maintenance plan. Based on that info my 3yr/36K mile lease = $368/mo.

To the entire issue the OP is bringing up, as many have said before he needs to look over his paperwork. In there will be all the specifics, all of which we have not seen in this thread. As others have said, if he has the option to give the car back, get his $2K back, and walk away, do it. FR-S's are not rare and another dealership will surely take him on as a customer.

My friend works for financing with a large Ford dealership. He told me that the profit margins on an inexpensive car (read: FR-S, BRZ) are very low. The dealerships make better profits with dealer financing and selling all those extra items: extended warranty, fabric and paint protection, tint, etc.

It was very clean. And they always are very clean ever since-- they moan and groin every time I show up-- but they do a good job. :-)

I also leased my FR-S a few months ago and the experience wasn't too bad. The only issue I had was a trade in with negative equity that wound up being rolled into the lease. I put down 2k for 36 months at 12k miles. I know I'm going to keep the car so I'm not worried about the fact that I'm rolling through the miles. The dealer originally agreed to about 420 a month and then I got a call about the paperwork and they made a mistake where they fogot to put in an additional 2k worth of rebates and that dropped my monthly pmt into the 380s. Otherwise, the deal went very smoothly. Leasing is a risky move on my part, but I will follow other's advise on this thread and look at a getting a loan before my lease is up. If I can work it out right, I'll save some money and I'll have the car paid off sooner. Good luck to all with leases and purchases.

Best advice: save up and purchase in cash.
