Sti version won't be coming out this year. And the full details will be shown at the LA Autoshow November 20th. Same time as the Tokyo Autoshow. And I personally cant wait to see the new specs under the hood of the new WRX. The side profile of the car however; looks like a prius.

Rear end looks like hell, I hope the STi is a lot more aggressive.

No one likes a redesigned impreza before launch, no one.

I wished if they really had to build off an existing platform they would have just built off the BRZ platform, stretched the wheelbase for useable backseats, made it a 3 or 5 door hatch, did the necessary mods to the suspension geometry to accept the AWD platform and called it a day. But, maybe they couldn't since it is a shared platform.
Like someone else said the rear looks really disproportionate to the rest of the car. In any case, I am waiting to see whats under the hood. |

This.
Every time a new Impreza/WRX/STI comes out, all the existing Subaru Impreza/WRX/STI owners cry wolf. 2 years later, another refresh comes out and the same thing happens, except this time, the existing design becomes the design that Subaru should go back to. I've seen it happen from bugeye (02-03) to blobeye (04-05), blobeye to hawkeye (06-07), hawkeye to hatch (08-present), and hatch STI to sedan STI. The only thing in common with all these people bitching is that they all hold the 22B in high regard. |

I'm just tired of all the mfgs. creating in essence the same car with slight variations in the front end. I think the first mfg. to be bold will crush the market.
That being said Subaru's numbers have been going up and up every year...making the WRX more of a bland car but sold as an upgrade to someone buying a standard Impreza is likely their intention. If it's too wild the upper middle class family isn't going to go for it. But if it's a civic with a hood scoop and toned down looks, then it has a better chance of selling to their target market. We, the performance enthusiasts, are the target market of ZERO car companies. We don't buy enough to make our wants a reality. We only get lucky if some people at the company want something enough and can make numbers that bean counters are ok with. The fact that they are still making an STI version here in the states is somewhat of a testament to that.
