I think the reason the Borla performs well relative to the other two is that the latter are a little oversized for a stock engine. Borla's primaries and collector are stock sizes, are they not?

Interested in specific tubing size of the borla as well. HRTROB, do you have the new version with the better welded collector than the 1st version? also is the only diff between the 2 dynos the header? what do you have for i/e?

They may be focusing on midrange/low rather than peak rpm power. I will throw my caliper on the tubes today, I just finished swapping to the new header so the old one is on the bench

Borla primaries are 1 5/8", Revworks and JDL are 1 3/4".
Revworks collector is 2.5"; Borla is 2.25". Don't know about JDL. |

I recently read someplace that the engineers were going for low end tq and that's the reason the dip is there.. Which makes no sense to me because of all the tricks such as continuous VVT, DI, ECU adaptability.. Etc.. Intake and exhaust runs play a big part in tuning.. Interesting to see the Effects the pipes make.. Thanks for posting.. |

It does look like the borla is better sized for the stock motor at 1 5/8 primaries. I really like the table like torque curve of post_break's dyno and also his the peak hp number. What is lost below 3k rpm is more than made up for by what is gained in the dip.

That's with other mods, and tuning. Look up a few posts for a stock comparison. Peaks are essentially identical, only real change is that the dip is reduced in magnitude by about half. |

You guys keep talking about lost torque below 3k, this is so minute it could be considered just part of the dyno plot. The same goes for peak torque, it's so close you can't really measure it. I don't know what curve the dynos are graded on but +-2hp/tq in my mind would be close.
Also we bolted the header in and forgot to pull the battery. I recently got a tune that takes the header into account so I'm sure there is even more power now. Just to be clear this dyno plot shows tune, exhaust first. Then tune exhaust header. Not stock to all those mods. |

I have the first version which was shipped out last March. I posted the phto of my collector in the previous page. Stock intake and Milltek resonated headerback exhaust on both pulls.

Does the ISIS exhaust include front pipe and mid pipe? 2.5" all the way through? I'm trying to figure out what are all the necessary bits to get the flat torque from 3k...
