This was a pain in the ass to install by the way. But, was well worth it.

Installed the Vigilant Motorsports CAI on 4-20-13 and had a check engine light come on yesterday due to a lean sensor. To resolve the issue I had to reinstall the Stock Intake needless to say I was pissed! Will be pursuing the Perrin CAI.

how do you like the sound comparing the VMS to the Perrin? minus the CEL of course.

and as for your borla exhaust, did you feel that either of the intakes "drowned" out your exhaust note or that the intake was too loud?

thanks in advance

great build so far

As far as the CAI goes it has a great growl sound when you get on it. At around 3500-4500 rpm it comes alives and sounds very aggressive. As far as the Perrin goes I can't speak any truth on it as I haven't heard it in person. It didn't effect the Borla other than increasing the aggressive sound that I already had. Then paired with the Individa Front pipe it gets pretty addictive to listen to. Will be reinstalling the Vigilant Motorsport CAI either this week or early next week.

Coming up mods will be 6000k HIDs, 6000K DRLs, LED/ Amber Switchback Blinkers, Perrin Overpipe, and Valenti Taillights. Will have wheels and tires before September rolls around.

Just a small update on Robin. The CAI will be going back on as soon as the rain stops. Just ordered 6000k HIDs, 6000K DRLs, and LED/ Amber Switchback Blinkers. Within the next 2 months the Perrin Overpipe, Valenti Smoked Taillights, and Carbon Fiber Fender Inserts will be ordered and installed also. Only mods left for NOPI after that will be the lipkit, wheels, and tires.

This will be my last update for awhile and for this current journal. Expect to see a new journal in the following month if everything goes well. All I can share for now is that Project Assassin is coming!

Vigilant Motorsports CAI was reinstalled, reset the ECU, set at idle for 15 minutes, and drove around the block twice. Happy to say no CELs this time.

Do you find much of a handling difference with the Cusco strut tower brace? I had a strut tower brace with my Corolla XRS from the factory. I Am sure it improved the chassis dynamics on the flimsy Corolla, just curious how noticeable it is on the FR-S. The black matches your car way better than the blue.

In normal everyday driving you don't know it's even there. When cornering on back roads or pushing the car a little you can notice the car handles a bit better. Thanks, I had to get rid of that blue.

This will be the last post and update for this thread. Since my last post i've installed 6000K HIDs, 6000K DRLs, Clear Sidemarkers, and LED/ Amber Sidemarkers. Big thanks to Vicious LED for sponsoring my car and giving me some truly sick lighting upgrades. The Vigilant Motorsports has become more of a curse than a mod for. It's been installed twice now and has set the CEL of both times. I will be reinstalling the stock intake tomorrow and be switching to the Perrin CAI. As for further updates to come I can't really share that with anyone. All I can say is that my FR-S will be undergoing a major transformation. Be looking for a new journal in 2-3 weeks. The Assassin Project has begun!
