Some new parts...

OK...Haven't updated my build for a while as I've been super busy lately but there's lots of new parts on my BRZ. First, for the stuff you can't see, I have installed a Nexus 7 on a Pro Clip mount for now while I do some testing. I have Torque dialed in using the bluetooth ELM327 adapter. So far, I really like the tablet so the next step will be building a motorized mount to hide it away while parked. I also received my Borla UEL this week (with warped flanges) so I haven't raced to put it on yet...maybe this week I'll get over to @FA20Club.com and have them install the header and also purchase the ecuTEK license/cable/tune.

On the exterior, I swapped the Carsmo Spoiler for the Zeta Performance CF spoiler and I also added the CF eyelids. Since they're small accents, I may just leave them all CF instead of painting portions like I originally planned. I will probably upgrade the unpainted BeatSonic roof spoiler to the CF version to match. The Zeta Performance parts look great but have some fitment issues for sure...seems to be a common problem with vendors rushing parts to meet the demand. I also installed the Perrin CatBack that finally came in and that was a seamless install with no problems at all. So far, Perrin has provided the best parts with zero issues at all. Wish I could say the same about the rest of the stuff I've purchased.

Here's a few updated pics...same location as the first pics I took of the car. It's an easy location as its at the end of my street.

I didn't adjust anything in PhotoShop so the images are straight from the camera to the forums...Maybe I'll play around with some of them this week. I need a better place to shoot nearby.

So last night I got a call from @FA20Club.com and he said even though my cable was still in transit that he would flash my ECU for me and when the cable comes in we can transfer the license. Oddly enough, his office is on the same street as mine about 3 minutes away. I hopped in the BRZ and headed up to his office excited to tune my car...FINALLY!! He was very helpful and knowledgable and gave me an awesome deal on two 93 octane maps and 2 E85 maps. I wasn't expecting to tune the car until at least Tuesday after installing my warped Borla UEL so I filled the tank with 93 yesterday morning. If I knew I was going to have a tune later in the day I would've waited and filled up with the corn juice..

So the first 5 minutes of driving were pretty sloppy as expected. Lots of dead pedal feel and play in the pedal off the line. By the time I made it back to I-95, the car was starting to rip! The exhaust note is different from around 2500-4500 RPM and has a strange, raspy sound for a moment under hard acceleration. The power delivery is very smooth and builds up to redline. He raised the redline to 8K but said to shift at 7400 still as power drops drastically at that point. I had him add flat foot shifting and launch control on maps 2 and 4 and I ran map 2 (93 octane with racerom features) the whole way home. The flat foot shifting provides super quick shifts and the power stays on the whole time. 2nd gear is way more than a "chirp" now and breaks the tires loose for a moment before grabbing traction again. With the traction control left in the ''on" position, I get all sorts of blinking in the cluster as the car fights itself from breaking loose. I just leave it off and drove it like I stole it.

I usually only drive the BRZ once a week at the most but I'm sure I will be taking it into the office a few days this week. Tony @FA20Club.com) said that the Borla UEL wont add much power but will def help the dip in torque...that alone is worth the price of the header so I'm still stoked to get it on the car. I'm shooting to have the header installed Tuesday morning and then get some dyno time with Tony on Tuesday afternoon. I need to burn some fuel in the mean time so I can try the E85 and hopefully beat my boys record for NA.. @2forme!!

I'll keep this thread updated as it progresses along...

On another note, I also tuned my wife's new Mercedes GL BlueTEC last night with the Brabus D6 S kit...WHAT A BEAST!! I can't believe the difference it made and how fast that big SUV barrels down the road now. It really woke it up. Its said to add upwards of 45hp and 55 ft lb of TQ...I believe it!! I've never driven a diesel that feels so much like a big block, gasoline, engine. It doesn't even sound like a diesel... I know, I know, this isn't a GL forum but since I was talking about tuning and we did it the same day I thought I would share my experience. Next is the Brabus lowering module that drops it 30mm and some 23" Brabus wheels to finish off the package. The $25k Brabus Bodykit is pretty ridiculously priced so I am going to see if I can come up with some AMG bumpers and just get the Brabus Widestar kit to complement them and hopefully save $10k...we'll see. Either way, I'm impressed beyond words with the Brabus parts...its the price I can't swallow.

@2forme I'm going to have to wait for a cool evening to get anywhere close. The heat and humidity rob me of power down here like you wouldn't believe...a day in the 60s or a night in the 50s and my car feels completely different. Sitting at lights in 85 degree heat with 95% humidity turns the car into a pig that can't get out of its own way though. I'm hopeful but not confident by any means... The only mod I have that you don't is the header, right? Well, at the time you posted that run at least...

@FA-20Club.com spent some time tuning my car on the dyno today. He did a great job getting everything dialed in and has my 93 octane set up perfect. It was a hot day and I am def going to order an oil cooler next...not just from todays dyno session but just driving the car on I 95 gets the oil temps up high in this climate.

No parts were changed during the dyno session. The Borla UEL was bolted up at 8:30 AM and I drove the car about 30 miles before going to the dyno. Really pleased with the torque curve now...

Here is the first run and the last run so you can see the difference that FA-20Club made while tuning..

And here is the last run alone...

I'll upload a video of the dyno run so you can hear the exhaust note with the UEL...EDIT-Link:

The brand is Klutch Republik a d the model is SL-14. I don't like the tires to be too wide for the wheel so I'm running 255/35/18 rears and 225/40/18 up front. With the 1.4" Eibach Sportline coils it sits perfect and rides pretty close to stock. Unless you plan on track days or going super low on the drop then these are a better option than coilovers for daily driving and street use in my opinion. I also added front and rear Eibach sway bars to keep the balance of the car and it is awesome around corners. It has way more grip and stays flat but if you feel the urge to throw it sideways the ass end steps out so controlled its surgical. A total blast to drive with this setup!!

Hope this helps!!

Chad
Interesting that your rears are +42. I ordered my set with rears at +30 from Klutch based off of specs from two other posts/members comments and pics. Theirs look pretty good but yours look pretty flush too. Hope it works out as I think it might be too late to change.
