That's a clever solution. That being said, if you ever decided to remove that hook you'll never get that bar back out again.

OP, stupid question- did you use the square brackets or just screw directly into the sheet metal?

screwed right into the sheet metal. even if you change your mind in the future, you'll never see the holes up there. Well. . unless you're locked in the trunk, bit then you've got bigger problems :P

I put mine up this weekend - used zip ties - needed not just the ones through the holes but also one to keep the bracket located. While I was in there, I added one to hold the 3rd brake light wire up against the frame - was hanging down an inch - zip ties are cheap...

I tried the zip tie method, but found this location is too visible for my liking; I didn't notice that the OP actually mounted his farther into the trunk, and I think that's a better location.

Plus, I do have one of those organizer type "boxes" that I keep in the trunk, so I'd prefer to have the organizer on one side, and the hook mounted on the other. So I guess I'll be drilling through the sheet metal.

Hey OP, you said you went straight into the sheet metal? Did you pre-drill or use self-tapping sheet metal screws? Any advice on screw size?

I did drill first, yes. Then used self-tapping screws. I do no not remember the sizes off hand.

I don't take drilling lightly, I just believe it to be the "right" way to mount something like this. I probably spent 20 mins laying on my back in there surveying the location and making ONE-HUNDRED PERCENT sure it was safe to drill in that spot.
