Switching to quality synthetic fluids is always a great way to mitigate a lot of issues down the road. We've been road racing/tracking subies for the better part of 10+ years and good well maintained fluids in track cars and street cars driven hard are essential.

The Motul is phenomenal not only their gear oils but their motor oils as well. We have had several of our customers car's Motul Motor Oil Blackstone tested with great results.

But isn't changing fluids the same as "modified parts"? There's a frs with less than 1000 miles sitting at my dealer cause some kids "messed up the fluids" (dealers words) got warranty denied, refused to pay and let the car gone to repo. Very sad story. I thought about changing fluids many time but unlike engine oil, all these other fluids seem to require a PhD to get them right, otherwise its just he said she said since there havent been fluids developed specifically for this car yet. Educate me you all.

I keep seeing conflicting info on the Motul rear diff fluid, some say the regular Gear 300 is fine and some are running the 300LS type. Crawford is running the LS in their turbo car and have Motul stickers all over it at SEMA, they may be running an aftermarket lsd though i'm not sure.

The "LS" version has a friction modifier for differentials. In addition to the friction modifier for LSDs, Gear300LS has a different additive package.

While Gear300 will work okay in Torsen type differentials (like the one in the FRS/BRZ/GT86), we use Gear300LS in our diffs.

If I can document that me pee is 75W90 and GL-3 rated then I can use it in my diff and the dealer can't say crap. There are consumer protection laws just for these issues.

Exactly, as long as the fluid meets or exceeds the specs in the owners manual and you document it, there is nothing they can do about it. Similar to engine oil specs.

Why did you go with the "LS"? Would it be more beneficial then the normal Gear 300 on a stock diff that sees track usage?

I'm wondering if anyone has seen any differences between the two when it comes to lab results.

At the First 86 event in CA I asked Jack Hollis the VP of scion and was told they did not care if damage happened on the track as long as it’s not related to a modified part they would cover it.

As my lawyer friends say, unless you have it in writing you don't have it.

Even the Porsche owners manuals say they don't cover repairs due to abuse or tracking your car.

See if jack backs you up. I will bet 100:1 odds he won't.

We haven't had enough time to send in multiple samples to Blackstone yet, but you can be sure that we'll eventually publish our results when we do

It stated making noise this morning then around noon today I got off the highway (cruise set at 75 for 15 miles) then I stopped and made right, then at the next stop sign I went to turn left and as I engaged 1st gear it made a ton of noise but the car had drive, then be the time I got it into 2nd it made more noise and the car lost drive.

I did notice yesterday at AutoX I had a lot more wheel spin than normal on launch, but my RS-3 are also near the ware bars...

No CEL, engine runs fine as and I can get the gear box into any gear fine. Just tons of girding noise from the rear when you try to engage the clutch in any gear. It was 100 out today so I sat it in for two hours with the A/C running to keep cool waiting for the tow.
