FLYBYS OF BORLA UEL!!!

YEEESSSSS!!! Fly by and dyno charts with the Borla UEL and EL header comparison

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3WrXQrBA44"]Borla R&D: Comparison UEL v EL Header 2013 Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ - YouTube[/ame]

Not sure if that will work? Try one of them. I almost cried... No more debate about power, one of them made more torque, one made more HP, no biggie, I'll take a few hp for sound any day.

The primaries are clearly of very similar lengths as are the secondaries.
The only difference that might be in the region of 30-35% is the difference in length between the primaries and secondaries but that's not what we're discussing here is it? We're talking about the unequal length variation of the pipes comparing left and right cylinders which is what gives the offbeat exhaust note and what is being built to achieve that.

Reading what Jason said i'm sure that's exactly what he was referring to, the difference in the lengths of the primaries to the shorter secondaries. Quite different but an easy mistake for you to make. It can get confusing.

Here's another example of EL headers which have longer primaries than the secondaries.
From Perrin? for the BRZ/86

Rice = Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement

Updating the header would technically add some improvement, not sure UEL header is "rice". but I'm just the new guy around here.

Is it me or does the sound need to be more "clean" it sounds really raspy and un-refined...

I thought it sounded amazing from the EL headers, as if it was pulling a lot more rpm than the UEL version. A slight beat at lower rpm but so sweet as it picked up until it sounded like a race prepped engine.

Much too loud. A toned down version would be fantastic.

Yeah, quite loud indeed for both of them. UEL sounded incredible, like a race prepped car. However, it does need to be toned down for daily use as I can only imagine how often I'd be pulled over for these or how often the girlfriend would opt out of taking my car places and instead use hers.

If it were just me, UEL for sure, I can handle noise.

The length is technically measured from the valve, and Subaru motors traditionally have 2 different port lengths on each head. So I would assume Jason's comment refers to the FA20 still having the 'dog leg' ports of the EJ.

I definitely agree its too loud and raspy but I think its probably cat less and the cat back is likely the excess noise. Uel on a more mild cat back would probably have a more pleasant tone though that eql is pretty wicked...

The unequal port lengths on each head accounts for the slight offbeat note that's still there when it has EL headers. That's been irritating me for ages so thanks for supplying that info.

Here's Jason's comments again.

Now, why they ran an unequal length design (32% variance between Y lengths) from the factory when they could have accomplished exactly what we did is beyond me.

32% has to be referring to the difference in length of the primaries to the secondaries, nothing else is anywhere near 32% different. Also he says between Y lengths which signifies secondaries into primaries.

Here's what he says about their first header and notice the equal length he refers to is firstly the primaries all being within 0.8% of each other and then the 2 secondaries being within 8% of the primary length.

So far this is what we have got to show - the first prototype system is a Tri-Y design featuring 1.625" equal length (within 0.8%/.125") primaries and equal length (within 8%/.5") 1.750" secondaries into a 200 cell high flow catalytic converter
