Depending on your understanding of physics, the claim of gained HP from reduced inertia is all the "FACT" you need to know this is snake oil.

yes you will "see" a HP gain from reduced inertia, because the motor has to accelerate (on the dyno):

Front crank Pulley,
Accessories tied to front pulley,
motor internals,
Flywheel,
Clutch plate,
Pressure Plate,
Trans input shaft,
syncros,
countershaft,
tail shaft,
Driveshaft,
differential (90 degree turn here eats lots of power)
Axles (half shafts to some)
Hubs,
Brake Rotors,
Rims,
Tires.

All of this (except motor internals) is what is accounted for by the 15-25% loss normally known as drivetrain losses and is the difference between BHP (brake HP, or Crank HP) and WHP.

there are lots of calculations based on the speed and diameter of all components, but you can see that reducing the weight of 1 component in the system is not going to recover HALF of the losses from the entire system.

This is not my theory, this gets discussed on EVERY CAR FORUM EVER, and it makes real enthusiasts angry to see NOOB's get uppity and defensive because they WANT this to be real HP gains, but sadly it is not.

I have no feelings toward VIVID/AP previous to their involvement on this forum, Never dealt with them before. They aren't involved with any of the road racing forums, or Nissan Forums I frequent.

How is daily drive ability?

Light weight flywheel will change the characteristic of the car. Especially on streets

At this point I vote on banning the next person that brings up that Subaru BS. The current staff at Vivid is a new staff. Whatever happened in the past happened, half of you are just trolling them at this point and bringing it up over and over. Let it go. Move on with your life. You were likely not even part of it, and are simply focusing on the internet replay.

Let vivid post whatever they're going to post and let them back up their claims with real numbers. I've heard more positive accounts with them than I have negative from REAL customers, not just people that dig up old forum posts. My buddy has a GT3 with an AP roll bar in it, he's completely satisfied with the product, and had it checked over by a body shop here. They said it was super easy to install, and built really well with one minor exception that they would have changed.

This constant "vivid sucks I read it on the internet" needs to go away until they really start burning people on this forum. All of you guys are just posting words and pointless banter at this point. Let it go.

I also like that no-one is calling out Amuse for their R1 exhaust claims of 30HP with just a catback!!! If you want to be fair, then start calling them out. Who cares if they are JDMtyteyo, there is no fucking way they got 30HP out of just a catback exhaust. Instead, everyone is like "YO I NEED THAT EXHAUST!" "That exhaust is so legit and baller!"

Proof:

So let Vivid burn their own bridges if they're going to keep going down this path of poor communication, and unclear communication.

They are doing stock car dynos to help clarify, as they've already stated. So it's time to move on with your lives.

Seriously, the recent whining on this forum about not just Vivid, but some of the other vendors is fairly annoying. If you aren't comfortable buying, think something is too much, or don't like a vendor, move on.

Asking questions and asking for numbers, dyno charts, pictures, etc. is helpful and necessary, but constant badmouthing is not.

We will keep deleting those posts but not banning people for them unless they start ignoring warnings.

I'm waiting for some one to cough up a dyno run, heck i am in Arizona, i will drive my BRZ over to Vivid this week, and if the dyno shows the pulley adds power you can swipe my credit card. If not, you take it back and no fees to me. Same with the header and front pipe, I'm game to try!

I don't understand why people keep asking for dyno runs of light weight engine parts. THEY DON'T MAKE POWER and will give vastly different results on different dynos. They give you extra acceleration and that is all. A better metric would be 1/4ml times.

I am interested to hear the weight of the new flywheel as in my past cars a light flywheel has been a really effective mod and i've been waiting for some to hit the market

The CM flywheel only works with the CM clutch kit.

Long delay, but a local customer's ClutchMasters stage 4 6puck clutch just came in so i tossed it on the scale. Even with the steel replacement flywheel there's quite a bit of savings. 25.90lbs clutch and flywheel assembled!
