And your car was breakin necks in my parking lot yesterday too. Everyone was pulling in super slow and staring at it.

Mine is parked there every day and I never see anyone looking at it

My car usually get the most looks from guys my age and Honda Civic drivers. They're always trying to race. I've only had one woman that couldn't stop staring and that was when I first bought it. I'd rather no one looked since they don't pay attention driving when they are staring but that's my fault for getting red.

Today I was walking back to the car and a man with his young son walk by and the son says something to the dad and they both smile and look at the car and then me. So I was like "sorry?" And then the father tells me it's his son's favourite car. Cute!

I still break my own neck after I park and turn around to look at it.

I get comments and thumbs up here and there still. Last Saturday I dropped something off at a UPS store and as I was pulling out some older guy was giving me a wave. I thought he needed something so I lowered my window and he came over and said the car looks awesome and he was telling his buddy about it as they saw me pull in.

I also get a number of cars trying to race or begin driving like aholes when they notice me. I don't partake, I just take it as a compliment.

I work at a post office in a small town and everyone eventually seems to comment how much they like it. Men, women, old, young, etc. Not surprising really the design is classic and awesome.

The day I brought the car home my wife and I were at a red light close to home. A camaro is coming on the opposite lane windows down music blasting and the sun roof popped up. Stops right at my window looks at me and does a burn out. As he drove off I turn to my wife and we both just started laughing, guess this car can be intimidating to people who don't know about it.

In my neighborhood some teenagers, usually male I find often break their necks. I got some strange looks at stoplights during the really awful days with like 20-25cm snowfall in 24 hours.

The short answer is yes, it is still one of the better looking cars on the road. One of the best if you consider how common it is to see one.

The longer answer is that it depends on where you live. As many have stated, in metropolis areas like here in the Bay Area the car's concept has probably caught on widespread and you'll see them everywhere. Does that mean it's not a sweet looking car? Of course not. Tesla Model S is even more prevalent of a car here in the bay area, and that doesn't take away from the 'everyone wants one' factor.

The way I look at it, it's popular because it is a great car. Looks, costs, driving experience, etc. Even haters must admit that. I think the overall answer to your question is yes.

Since everyone is sharing anecdotes, I have also had several strangers come up to me in public places asking about the car. I was once leaving a smoke shop and some middle-aged dude pulled up next to me in a truck and started asking all kinds of questions about the costs, engine size, etc. He concluded with 'well that looks like a really fun car to drive man, enjoy!' before driving off. That's one thing I really love about this vehicle, is how much everyone else loves it too, not just us as the owners.

I also stare back at the car every time I walk away from it...

We live in deep south Texas and every time we venture north to go anywhere we have to pass an ICE checkpoint. In the BRZ I'll get a quiz from the ICE agent 99% of the time. Do you like the car? How does it handle? What does one of those things cost? Man that car looks amazing. Other than that I've had a few encounters at parts houses, but not much else.

That said, my car is not my daily driver. I usually get it out with a destination in mind and don't spend much time in day to day traffic or trips to the store and such. The lack of attention is just fine with me. I didn't buy it to get noticed, but to drive it. And to look at it. I can sit in the garage for hours just staring at it. I love these cars.

What is an "ICE" checkpoint?
