Did you go with the Haltec elete 2500 and the MRS CAN device on top of that? I bought the ls2 swapped BRZ on here a couple months ago. It has the gm ecm piggybacked to the subaru ecm. I'd like to be able to get rid of both and get a stand alone but like you I want it to have the cam communication so everything like cruise, trunk popper, tach and stuff work properly. Good luck with the build

The desire to use the CAN device instead of a full standalone is the cost difference between both is somewhere around $4-$6k. I know of someone local with 2JZ swap who used the Haltech 2500 Elite and has some of the functions working, but some others don't and some like the A/C sometimes works and sometimes don't. In the end, any capable standalone (Haltech 2500, Motec M150/M130, AEM Infinity 8H, Emtron, etc) have the capability of controlling the stock car systems. The problem is having the money to buy one and having someone who is able to program it to control the CAN systems.

The problem with motec is that it's too damned expensive. This hardware then that license then that hardware then this license then dyno and tuner time. It's like Penskes. You know it's better, but you're at least doubling the price of some amazingly good competitors.

Really enjoy following these swaps. It's more and more looking like the path I will take.

I have the push button start on my swap. Car is parked in the garage for the winter. I have the gm ecu and the original brz ecu together. If there is anything I can check for you on my car I'd be glad to help.

Even though I'm not even started with an LS swap. And don't plan to for about 2 years. I'm tempted to preorder this. Just so it doesn't die. And so the push button start gets working. Too many times I've seen great products like this fizzle away. Because someone starts developing it. And 2000 people scream they want it and "take my money!" And then when it comes time to pony up and buy it. 2 or 3 people actually commit. It's sad when that happens. |

And I read what you said about emissions monitors. That's awesome. If the brz computer can report the monitors coming from the GM ecu. That's perfect. It will allow people to do the swap and remain road legal in the many states that require annual obd testing. |
