Dude
I purchased a g1w-cb for about $60 CAD.
Pretty good quality and wide enough angle.
Older camera but it seems to work... Make sure you set to 3min clips and it will overlap (no gaps in the recording).

The conversation with his insurance company was interesting. After hearing that he said it was probably his fault, but then again maybe the light was yellow when he entered the intersection, she started to suggest I was to blame because I was turning left. I then asked if she wanted to see the video. After viewing and saying "I see", "Oh my" a few times, she said they would take 100% liability. $100 worth of dashcam and microsd card just saved me a lot of hassle and possibly higher iunsurance.
This was the reason behind getting my dashcam. My old insurance company decided to just tag me at fault and settle without informing me of anything.

It makes me wonder if you can just withhold the camera footage and sue the other party in court for insurance fraud.

Sorry to hear about your ribs tho. Here's to a speedy recovery!

You'd have to prove intent, and that's tough. Even I wasn't 100 percent sure the lift was green for me until I saw the video.

Garage
NAPA Autoparts has a relatively cheap ($54) dash cam available.
Get four and cover all the angles?

Finally ordered my dashcam and installed it today because of this thread. Thanks @Racer-X
I ended up ordering this one: https://www.amazon.com/Rexing-Dashbo...4086197&sr=8-1

Super easy to install (not hardwired - I'm just using the glove box power socket), and I picked it because of the screen and large number of positive reviews.

OP, sorry to hear about your accident. Glad you're okay and hope you are enjoying your 2016 FR-S!

You are completely right about having a dash cam -- it brings peace of mind.

Mine has been the best investment for my 86 so far, and it's super subtle too! (I have the A118C or B40)

Here are some of my dash cam highlights:

I also have the A118C, great budget camera but the night time quality is lacking but it will work for accident at fault viewing purposes. It's been working fine in the Florida heat, just keep in mind once the temperature in the vehicle is above ~140 the video quality will be degraded until it cools down. I would recommend that you buy an SD card with a high endurance for writing and rewriting, I prefer the Lexar High-Performance microSDHC 633x, it uses MLC NAND flash instead of TLC(Cheaper to produce, not stable after 500 or so cycles), also limited lifetime warranty.

So far so good - here's a screenshot (downsized to 1300 pixels wide). Video is just same thing moving.

HCI ROKU!

I see you don't have your speed displayed, probably a wise decision.

Can this cam display acceleration value in X, Y and Z axis?

Also, from the description on amazon:
"*NEW* Upgraded car charger that have a extra USB power outlet"

Does this mean that you can have other device plugged into the same outlet while the camera is plugged in? Would you mind posting a picture how it looks?
