My first RWD sports car, or why taking your foot off the gas mid turn is a bad idea:

That video should be referenced as part of the definition of Lift-off/snap oversteer

Wikipedia:
Quote:
Lift-off oversteer (also known as snap-oversteer, trailing-throttle oversteer, throttle off oversteer, or lift-throttle oversteer) is a form of oversteer in automobiles that occurs while cornering when closing the throttle causes a deceleration, causing the vertical load on the tires to shift from the rear to the front, in a process called weight transfer. This decrease in vertical load on the rear tires causes a decrease in the lateral force they generate, so that their lateral acceleration (into the corner) is also decreased. This causes the vehicle to steer more tightly into the turn, hence oversteering. In other words, easing off the accelerator can cause the rear tires to lose traction, with the potential for the car to leave the road tail first.

I can't get over the exterior, it looks like someone held a magnifying glass over the car.

I'd much rather have a Boss 302 for the same price of a 2015 GT.

lol. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does not like the way the new Mustang looks.

That Supra pic makes me miss my Work VS-XX.

NorCal (Bay Area) OFF-TOPIC Chat Thread

I hated the new mustang when I first saw it. Now I like it.

I have some first hand experience racing a fast Mustang.

Wheeled that beast at the Pro Solo this year.

335/30/18 Hoosiers on 18x12" wheels all around and almost 500WHP.

I was SERIOUSLY looking at the Mustangs last year. I come from the BMW side and when MT tested the new M3 versus the new Mustang GT ( a couple years back ), Randy Probst put up times only tenths of a second apart - with a few wins to the Ford.

I just wish the interior of the Fords were a little more thought out or laid out better.

The previous gen Mustang had mediocre build quality, uncomfortable seats, and awful rear suspension. Yes, Pobst could make it go fast, but how about on a canyon road with mid-corner bumps? How about riding berms? With a proper IRL, the Mustang has finally stepped into the modern era. The GT350R looks downright wonderful. Where the M3 sings, the Mustang roars.

There are just so man wonderful, attainable (or semi-attainable) driver's cars out or coming out right now. Miata, twins, C7, Mustang, M3, M2, M4, GTI, Tesla, Cayman, Boxster, Hellcat, FiST, Abarth, 4C, etc.

Has there been a GT350R vs M4 test yet? Heck, GT350R vs C7 Z51.

We are in a golden age of cars, folks, and it's still getting better!
