Really want this job because it’s going to give me my life back. 9-5, Monday to Friday instead of 7- whenever, for 17 days straight with only 4 off, living out of a hotel. Fiancée is 100% on board and has gotten a job offer from a hospital in the area. If I get the job, sounds like we’re going to buy a house ASAP, and should be able to put nearly 50% down on it if the market stays this way for the next 6 months or so.

A couple coworkers jumped ship to this company, so i think I have a fairly good shot at it.
Hard to get a loan after just switching a job, but with 50% down, maybe not so hard. GLWJ.

I didn't realize this until being on the other side of the hiring process, but if a job is within your area of expertise and you have relevant work experience, but not quite what they have listed, go for it. Same thing goes for if you have most of the skill set they're looking for, but not all of it. The worst that can happen is you don't get a call for an interview.

The last security analyst we hired was short on the requested experience by 3 years, but knew what he was doing and, like you, had certifications to back it up. Of course this may vary depending upon the hiring manager, but if someone says "You're the perfect candidate, but are lacking 6 months of experience so we can't hire you," you may be better off not working for that person.

So true. I'd rather have somebody with a lower degree but better skills. I'd rather have somebody without an attitude. I'd rather have somebody who is independent. I'd rather have somebody who wants to work hard and make more money.

But I've hired people who don't meet those needs. Sometimes they turn out really well.

Pass month or so, some random kids & suspicious ppl have been lurking around my car, when I'm at work. Maybe it's time to invest in dash cam or something...?

After a couple of decades of hiring people I have determined that about 80% of what is on a resume (including "certifications") is meaningless bullshit anyway. It as gotten worse in the internet era where a "certification" is only a few true or false questions and $500 away in almost any field you can imagine.

Hell I am low on everyone's requirements being I never finished college. It sucks now a days that so many jobs require a degree, even if it is not in a remotely relevant field. They just want to see that piece of paper.

That spot I park gets good view in security camera plus no one park right of me, so that’s why I park... but checking few times a day, might be a good idea.

Not super worried about my experience. I check all their other boxes, and did a project for them last summer and knocked it out of the park.

The good news is that the courses I have are not the ones you do online and pay $500 for. You actually need to prove you can perform the work in order to get them, and one of them is under the AIT in Alberta.
