Nope.

Probably one or two of the older models to race with... but the direction this car takes is really pivotal for me and if it isn't any good I probably won't race or support Toyota with aftermarket parts once I open my tuning shop either.

I don't know if this is the thread this should be placed in, but nevertheless this seems to be old news. The article talks about reasons why the project was delayed which have been covered in many articles a long time ago. Also, the targeted price is totally off and they claim the car has been "released" as a 2011. Nothing has been officially released except the concept cars and the year for the production model is supposed to be 2012. There's some more speculation in there that we've heard before. The only thing I wish were true is that there is no mention of the car being badged as a Scion.

Good to see people still scouring the web for more news. But nothing to see here. Carry on.

I currently own a g37S coupe. I was thinking of selling this car and buy the FT but every single person on earth told me (some are forum member here) that im downgrading if i went with this plan, and they start making me think that they are right, like 3.7 vs 2.0... the 3.7 stock engine can handle up to 600 HP while boxer engine needs alot of rebuild to reach 400 HP.

but who knows, I might change my mind when they release some more info about the engine

And yes I do care about HP (honestly torque more than HP but what ever)
because no matter how bad the balance of the car is, you can adjust the balance the car with high quality after market suspension, sway bars, chassis accessories and wider wheels.

So my answer for "now" is nope

hahaha...funny that you mentioned about downgrading from a G37 to a FT-86.
I own an IS300 and peeps tell me the same thing. Ya, its luxurious to own but its definitely not sporty to take corners on, unless you really do up the suspension. And for Lexus, good luck on finding somehting qaulity under a grand and wont kill your kidneys.

I keep hearing that there might even be a boosted version of the FT-86...praying

No offense, but I think the double wishbones on the IS300 are pretty awesome. And you could get it with Torsen LSD. I'll be delighted if the FT86 comes in as athletic as the IS200.

That is the only thing thats good about the IS300...is the LSD. But its rare to find it and even more rare to find a 5speed manual. You have better chance on finding an LSD in an 01-03 models. But 01's only came in Auto, which I have.

Now Im on the look out for a manual. Hence why I am on here, hoping for the best in the FT model

WTF? Seriously? What about all the Supra parts that interchange with it???

It's like a 4 door Supra waiting for some attention!

(I've got an IS300 head waiting for money for a rebuild, and ViPeC or Haltech standalone so I can have a high-flowing VVT-i hybrid 1.5JZGTE in my Supra.)

Edit: Manual swaps in those should be easy, either a Supra/SC300 W58 or a Mk3 Supra R154 (super strong 5 speed) with a 1JZGTE bell housing.

Yup, if its stock. Then seriously.

If you talking about swaps and upgrades. Then skies the limit, since you can interchange parts with whatever fits in the engine bay. Shyt, someone has done an LSX motor swap in the IS300. Super Sleeper

But a W58 is worthless once you boost past 350hp. I have a R154 tranny with 1jz bellhousing. But since mine is already an Auto, I will need to change the ECU or get stuck with CEL on at all times. It throws 11 codes stating that there is no tranny, so how the hell are you driving.

Since I dont have the funds to get the pedals; clutch cylinder and all those fun parts, along with the ECU swap. I am trying to sell my R154 tranny with 1jz bellhousing JDM oem clutch/flywheel/clutchplate shifter and gear box.

Time to find a manual IS300, or get a Toyota FT

Goin from auto to a manual is a real b!tch. You'd be better off getting a new car (which is what you already said lol).

Back on topic, as long as Toyota doesn't totally screw this car up, then my answer is YES (pending test drive)!. This car just screams win, from being a small 4cyl RWD, to the use of a subaru flat 4 to lower the CG. Toyota did their homework on this one.

Also, shouldn't there be a poll so we don't have to read 4 pages to find out what everyone thinks?

Isn't there some kind of resistor trick that they use on auto ECUs?

But, yeah I guess it can be a hassle. How much are you looking for the parts sale? What part of WA are you in? I'm in Vancouver, BC. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in selling.
