To be fair it's not the car's fault if your girlfriend sucks at driving a standard. My lady does perfectly fine behind the wheel of a standard.

I guess it doesn't really matter. The auto people will stand behind their choice and the manual people will stand behind their choice.

Just to clarify... the Corvette Z06 is faster in auto than in manual, and it does NOT have a DCT. They got their 8-speed slushbox to shift faster than Porsche's DCT. That's impressive. I'm not saying that the FR-S's auto is that good, but it feels way better than most auto's that people imagine.
(disclosure: I drive manual. I respect Auto. There have been so many improvements to auto's over the years, I find it silly to ignore the Auto) |

There is a very small group (like me) in between that can see the advantages of both and understand why some will pick one over the other without judging or criticizing.

Well in fairness to all the respondents it probably wouldn't have if it was in the Journal section where it belongs instead of in the General area that is prone to such things.

One of the disadvantages to driving a manual shift car is that it puts me in the same demographic as the small-****ed asshats who use their awesome manual shifting prowesses to inflate their ego.
