It's basically a strong magnet that DOES NOT mess up your internal components because it uses the special type of rare metal that you see on the back of my phone. It's very minimal on the phone and in the car. Holds very strong. Allows for full use of all buttons. The metal piece can be stuck easily in a case. I've seen people stick it inside their Galaxy S4 and S5 after removing the back battery door cover. It's very thin.

How does this mount to the car? Sticky?

3M adhesive back. The ones that we both showed has a flexible base to conform to flat or variously curved surfaces. So on a warm day (or get your hair dryer out) you flex the tabs on the thing, hold it in place, count to 30, 60, 90 seconds (however long) and away you go. To remove, fishing line and Goo Gone.

And as I mentioned, I also have a suction cup version also that I use for my OFT. I mount it to the windshield right above the driver's side vent and run the cable underneath the dash and up and it works great for datalogging.

I made one from CF and integrated a ball detent to rotate it 90° for GPS. I'll post pics later.
I wanted something with an integrated lightning connector that I could just drop the phone on and let it charge/sync with my stereo without having to fumble with cables.

for the record, I have the iOttie mount directly mounted to the dash above the vents--it doesnt really block my view, it sits over the vents which provide backup cooling for it during the summer, and its a natural position for me to use it.

Yes it's just a standard adhesive on the back. It takes up little room and is very stable. This is the first mount that I don't mind leaving on my car forever and not caring about it. Usually I have to remove a mount for various reasons.

Got the "Scoche" mount this weekend, love the ease of mounting. Magnet is alot stronger than I thought. My daughter, who is two and rides in the back seat, kept saying "I see out of the front now!" and "Where daddy's phone?" I didn't realize how much it blocked her view. Loving it.

It's the 1ft length. They count the length as if it was fully stretched out. Here's the one I picked up:

Thanks! I wasn't sure if the 1ft would be a stretch.
