CA start to rolling the smoke test.

There is not 6 years exemption now.

Is that true?

Thanks.

Depends on whether or not Cosworth has worked with Subaru or Toyota in any way to seek some sort of approval. I don't know where the warranty claim is coming from (Cosworth, or Jalopnik), but if it's from Cosworth, chances are they probably ran the newly tuned map by them, similar to how Jackson Racing provides CARB-approved maps for their kit.

This guy knows. The wing's only $400. The Cosworth performance upgrades only $600. The rest, $4200 is the stickers. That's where the real power comes from.

Well, I assume that info is correct but there'd still be 6 years if you buy a new car before you have to get checked. It sounds like this is more an on the road "hey, your car is loud, smoky, modified looking, etc." type of thing.

Mine's still stock as far as the smog details go, so I'm comfortable.

For $2500 you could do (and I did) the Phantom Electric Supercharger 1.5 dump pack, Open Flash Tablet with e-tune and be running around 215+/- whp with 185-190 ft/lb torque at the wheels at 4000 rpm. That's what, 255 max hp at the crank and 220 ft/lb of torque at the crank at 4000 rpm..? It's SO much quicker than stock. 0-60 in around 5.8 seconds. My logged 40-60 time dropped from 2.92 seconds stock to 2.42 seconds with the ESC kit.

I'm not a skilled auto mechanic and I managed to install the whole kit by myself in 3 hours... and the kit can be removed, stock air intake tube installed and the computer flashed back to stock in less than an hour.

It's nice to have the Cosworth option, but I'm not sure why anyone would consider a $3,300 exhaust system that adds 30 hp when you can have 50+/- hp and a huge torque boost in the low/mid range for $1,350 less. Is it the sound? Sorry, but I'll take the power and torque.

For me I deeply respect and believe I feel the result of a long time engineering a very specific car. With superbly balanced feeling attempting to max your fun out. For me its nice I can be driving around WOT see a cop and think I'm having way too much fun for this to be legal. Nope I just hit 35 is all.

I might want a little nudge of power but I would want it to be the least invasive thing you could do to alter the perfect engineering. A turbo from my understanding is adding a lot of reliability concerns and altering the driving dynamic in a way the engineers with the vision of this car did not intend.

This car is art designed with a specific vision. too add power out of nowhere without consulting the people with the original vision. To just produce a thing that will raise a single stat would taint what's awesome about this car.

I know nothing about cosworth but It sounds like they understand more than just numbers so I'm hopeful some very cool options will come.

Seems like the parts are available individually but they package them into kits (stages). They release teaser vids that have gone viral within 86 social networks these past few weeks and recently stated a vision of not voiding your warranty. They have a way with words and whether or not the car makers agree to it, the naysayers are still talking up a storm (benefiting Cosworth). It's marketing genius. Now if they can somehow market a package with CARB EO (Executive Order) number included...
