I can't even get the application to open. I can install it, and move the necessary file, but it refuses to open. Windows XP SP3 VMWare on a mac.

For anyone that has a working VM could you be so kind to just PM me the file? I have been trying to get this piece of shit software to work for months and it seems impossible.

I never tried to run it on emulation environment, the pics you see in first post are "screen capture" of my "wireless lan remote desktop connection" of a basic HP win7 32bit laptop.
Diagnostic tools are preferable to run them on proper environment. This tools need, usually, much stability. Therefore accessing to car's core without stability can generate serious damages. A freeze while you are customizing some options can lock car system or units with no solution.
I know that several tools for BMW as IDIS runs very well on WMware but a hard work to get it 100% compliant was made. The Techstream solution was not built to operate in emulation env., although it runs.

I dug out the old, tiny Asus Eee with XP for this, it works fine.

If you're stuck with Win 7, take note of this:

I finally got it to work last night on my 7th virtual machine for the day. It's TIS 7.10.03 but it recognized the FRS and it didn't nag about registration. All the settings worked and I was able to adjust various things.

Here is a link to the package that worked for me: https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=75C93...49501E9A%21126

Found it thanks to a Tundra forum. The MVCI MSI driver worked like a charm. For anyone having issues try this build, I can verify it works with Windows 7 32 bit in a virtual machine.

I can confirm this as well. Didn't even ask for registration, I just exchanged the main menu file provided with the one that comes on the file. No issues, works fine

Yeah and by the way, my MINI-VCI cable came with the program in a mini-cd. 25$ in ebay

You think you can provide a link to the ebay seller? That's would be awsome!

I have been running ver. 8.00.034 with no problems and I have a Gulf spec BRZ.

Latest version is Techstream 8.20.019, It is available on www.auto-professionals.co.uk but for some reason I have lost my account with them so cant download it!!

I remember struggling to get it to work with my ebay cable but there is setting in the app where you change the cable you using from a mongoose to MVCI (as long as you have installed the drivers that came with your cable) and then worked fine.
