Damn, those guys just had a free shipping promotion that ended yesterday (Oct 22). They have the dirt cheap Nexens in stock for $115 each. Walmart isn't stocking them anymore (from what I heard, WM wanted Nexen to raise prices, and they told WM to shove it). They are apparently decently rated.

Yup, Canadian BRZ does not have the TPMS; only the FR-S has it here...

Or... Put winter on the stock wheels ( no tpms to buy or re program at the dealer =300 savings) no steel wheels to buy (200 savings) and buy some much nicer wheel and tire combo dedicated for summers? Then sell the stock tires to your mom's friend that has a Prius that needs black and round tires because hers are getting really old...... Make 400 because " There Michellins I saw the commercials with the baby's in the tire" they must be good.

So on a good day with the wind blowing in the right direction with a mom that needs tires for her Prius you saved/made $900 bucks. Of coarse that short lived after a set of winters and a set of dedicated summers but just sayin.

Thanks for all the great information. I'll probably take a look to see what they have at a couple local places in terms of Wheels. I knew I was supposed to get 16" w/ the right bolt pattern, but I had no clue on the width and would have hated ending up with the wrong thing.

Thanks again to everybody.

Wow...I'm really surprised. I was under the impression that all cars had to have TPMS after 2007 in Canada. I thought it was another one of those "stupid people" laws like daytime running lights. DRL has been mandatory here since 1990 or so. Good to know...thanks guys.

Yup, TPMS is only recommended in Canada, it's not mandatory like the states.

This ^^

Gonna buy a set of winters shortly and install on the OEM wheels. These will now be my winter wheels, hopefully buy a nice set of 18's next spring with better tires. I have used the stock tires at 4 track days and still haven't managed to kill them yet (despite trying). Will sell 'em off for cheap in the spring and get a set of cheaters on.

so i maybe getting my FRS next week and want to get winters soon after.
my dealer quoted me $1600 for Toyo 205/55r16 on alloys, installed, no TPMS.
they said they dont have steels for the FRS yet only alloys.
the michelin were more and didnt look or feel as good. uniroyals were about $200 less but looked pretty bad.

opinions?

Well if you want to pay 1000 $ for rims to go into salty weather/winter, I think you need therapy

Find some used steelies or buy subaru wheels.

My friend sold me 4 steelies of a 5th gen celica for 60$. Fits right on the FR-S.

Canadian Tire also sells gray subaru steelies for imprezas for 90$ each.

I picked up a set of 205/55R16 Michelin X-Ice Xi3 mounted and balanced on 16x7 Matte Graphite Silver Sparco Assetto Gara wheels (& lug nuts) from tirerack. Under $1600 to the door, ordered Thursday night, arrived Tuesday afternoon.

All fees, taxes, and brokerage included in the price.

Highly recommended for a hassle free transaction.
