Not a hatchback?! The production FR-S is going to be a hatchback, right?

Hm... looking at this pic. I notice weakness in the chassis (AE86 owner might now what I'm talking bout ) or hope they have reinforced it like Silvia

Did you notice the trend for your butt dyno findings?

NA, DA, and EK = double wishbone front suspension

S14, FC, and Eclipse = strut front suspension

Not drawing any conclusions, but thought that was interesting.

wow i actually didn't think of that, you could be right. Which could explain why that strut bar has to be so thick. Taking care of some of that load from this,

There was pic where it has enough of a gap to open.

Weight, storage space, stiffer frame. It's an important factor.

No...this car is not (suppose to be) a piece of shit

For real though...having a trunk somehow not relates it to a mustang...i dont see how that works?

I'm still secretly hoping for a hatchback. If it's not, it won't be practical enough, and pretty much a deal breaker. Can't see being able to put a set of race tires in there with it being just a regular trunk lid, not to mention other bulky items for daily use.
Maybe the idea of taking race tires, jack and tools is going to manifest as an optional FR-S branded tire trailer and hitch installation.

It is supposed to make more of a difference on Mac strut cars. Honestly even on those though I never noticed anything.

I was really hoping it would be a hatchback. I mean, this would have been a perfect vehicle if it had a hatchback. With the functionality of a hatchback I would be able to carry many more items in the car. I plan on traveling the country for future vacations, and that would have meant packing a tent, and supplies to travel all around and work at different offices for my country. I want to live out of my car, and I'll still do that, but the hatch would have made it easier to pack things in. The only bad thing about having a hatch would maybe be a little bit of added weight, but it would have been worth it to make this car a perfect daily fun car.

On top of that, I want to buy this car and keep it for as long as it lasts. That can mean I'm with it for over 10 years, and having that added bit of functionality is crucial. I want my next car to be functional, fun, frugal, and above all else, reliable. I was looking at 4 doors, like the 2006 BMW 330i, but this new car seems to tick all the proper boxes, but the fact that it doesn't have a hatch is a tick against functionality.

That is why having a hatch or notch or liftback is so important, because customers like me need this car to be as good as it can be. I'll have to wait and see when the car comes out if it still fits my needs. I do say, though, that this is looking really good so far.

Also, in case you're wondering, here are my current wants when it comes to my next car:

Must be RWD
Must be lightweight
Must be extremely reliable
Must look good
Must be manual
Must be faster than my current car
Should be easy to work on

Now, my current car is a 98 Honda Prelude, which I have modified to try and deal with FWD, and while it's good, and has a higher output engine, I still don't consider it to be good enough. It has been very reliable for the 4 years I've owned it, but it being made 13 years ago takes its toll. As soon as I get my next car, the Prelude will go onto the track until she dies a dignified death.
