While I disagree with this (and so does statistical analysis of our current economy) we've derailed this thread enough.

Added hers in and even though she makes almost as much as I do it stayed at 2%. I guess there is no way for me to get ahead.

My god you guys really took this off topic... I came here expecting to see discussion on reliability. Instead, I seem to have stumbled into the Cuban revolution...

Hurrah. A 46%'er! Right in the middle. I'm not sure if I should be a Bernie Bro or if I should consider the more conservative policies of Joe Biden.

Isn't a thread going off the rails by page 3 always a thing? I usually come back around page 14 because things seem to get back on track by then.

To summerize:

Barely a Toyota.
Subaru has a history of engine problems.
Old white men have different fiscal views when compared to the young people of today.

My 2% position looks really good until you read the fine print where it is compared to other white males that did not finish high school. Bet if I did it with the level of education people in my field usually have I would be firmly in the middle with you. All in all it really shows how useless such “stats” really are.

Thread subjects that are strong stay on track. Moderate ones go off track but may come back. Weak ones go off topic and die or never even get started. ‘‘Tis the law of the jungle.

I actually used to be a proponent of socialism and communism when I was younger. Then I spent 22 years studying economics, finance, history, visiting countries with various political systems, working and supporting myself, and just seeing life for myself and maturing. What I learned from all of that is that the appeal of socialism and communism in my youth was purely out of naivety and lack of knowledge. That's kind of part of it all though and why I firmly disapprove of it today, it prays on the weaknesses of young minds to gain power that ultimately steals the future from those young minds. Now that I am an 'old white man' I know that while capitalism is very far from perfect, no one has come up with anything better. As soon as someone does, I'll post it to this thread

In the mean time, I expect my toyobaru to have similar reliability to any other non-fi subaru.

Not 100% sure what part you disagree with, but I solidly believe if an individual believes it is possible (or impossible) to set their mind to a goal and pull themselves up by their own bootstraps to accomplish it, then the individual is correct.

As a wise philosopher once said when his apprentice did not believe he could succeed, "That is why you fail".
