If you get a decent little trickle charger it'll last practically forever.

12.24v . . . . . . . . . . 50%
12.06v . . . . . . . . . . 25%
11.89v . . . . . . . . . . 0%

(NOTE: these readings are at 80 degrees F. Battery voltage readings will drop with temperature roughly 0.01 volts for every 10 degrees F.)
(At 30 degrees F. a fully charged battery will measure about 12.588 volts, and at zero degrees F it will measure about 12.516 volts.)

CHECK BATTERY CHARGING VOLTAGE
After charging the battery or jump starting the car, connect the voltmeter to the battery the same as before and not the charging voltage. A charging system that is operating normally should produce about 13.8 to 14.3 or more volts at idle. If the charging voltage is less than 13.0 volts, the alternator is not putting out enough voltage and current to keep the battery charged."
End of quote.

(I scraped that off the Internet, so it must be true - )

Damn it @humfrz. Making me prove my work/logic.

I go by voltage per cell. It should be 2.1-2.2 per cell and most battery 12v are 6 cell without a surface charge.

OK, we agree - depends on whether or not the battery was straight off a charger or it had "rested" for a few hours (12-24 hours) after being charged.

I was looking up more on this issue online and came across this guy who had a similar problem

https://forums.edmunds.com/discussio...-buick-enclave

It was a different car but problem sounds exactly the same as mine. Random extended cranks that were hard to reproduce

Turns out he had to replace all the injectors.

“Well I got my car back from the dealership- they had to replace all of the injectors, 5 were out of spec and the 6th was borderline. Car runs and starts as it should, no more extended crank or surge under load. Hopefully if someone has the same problem this will help them. I thank all that have contributed to helping get to the bottom of this head scratcher.”

Sounds like itll be a costly job. Not familiar with the toyota engines and how easy / difficult it would be for a dealership/mechanic to replace the injectors?

Since you can't seem to "let this go", I suggest you take it to a dealership and pay them the $140 to do their diagnostics -

I have the same problem here in Australia, and sadly there is no Subaru TSB or Toyota TSB in this country for both 86/BRZ. And I am pretty sure it’s not related to battery since I have random extended crank when battery is new. Tried method people talked about which I should BUILD FUEL PRESSURE before startup the engine. But problem still there. Went to one of the biggest Toyota dealer in Adelaide, let them check the ECU for me but they said no issues at all. This extended crank is not about 10s startup time, it just sometimes you can feel the shaking in your engine starts, which it’s abnormal. And besides these, the winter temperature in this country is not too low, normally 7-8°C. So I’m confused.
