I currently commute 45 miles each way on freeways or well-maintained state highways, and there are lots of long downhill sections. '13 BRZ auto, everything stock. I'm averaging 36.4mpg in those conditions over the last 6 months.
Just for contrast, I absolutely do drive it like a Prius while commuting. (In fact, I sometimes get better mileage than my wife's Prius in her much-less-helpful driving conditions). One of the reasons I bought a BRZ is that it's fun to drive even with MPG in mind. I save the "spirited driving" for the track and canyon driving. FWIW, acceleration rates for me are dictated by traffic flow, not by my preference to be fast or slow. Over 70k miles in 5+ years and a variety of commuting conditions, I've averaged 30.3mpg. LOL I said I figured that back when this started. I am just poking back really. These MPG threads are always a hoot. It should break out into the AT vs MT brawl any time now.

It is completely impossible if you live in an urban center to drive it ball out all of the time. Well not unless you don't mind tickets and accidents.

I don't have a fancy fuelly thing set up to record it like i have seen on others profiles...
I have a 75 mile round trip commute plus I have taken two 1,000+ mile road trips. That being said, I try to drive it gingerly when I can but those off-ramps mhm.. I have 2 numbers I have noticed on Subaru's 0w20 oil and Schaeffer's 0w20 Oil I hit around 30 However, on Schaeffer's 5w30 I get around 32. I hit 37.5 on my 1400 mile road trip to yellowstone and the tetons in WY Has anyone else noticed a difference in oil weights with MPG? |

You can’t calculate gas mileage based on distance travelled without knowing how many gallons of gas were consumed. Just because you stopped to fill the tank doesn’t mean that you used all of the gas in the tank.

Need to do more testing though Hard to have consistency between oil changes though, plus I'm getting it ready for track and autocross this year so i won't be able to get "accurate" data for a little while

Oh we still need to cover lightweight pulleys, sub $2,000 turbos, big wings and the best coil overs for a 3" drop without impacting handling or ride.
