Lol thanks for everyone's advice and lovely judgement. I will update this thread with the the outcome.

No pedestrians or kids where around at all there isn't even a side walk to walk on it is surrounded by trees and nature it just technically counts as residential because of a farm house half a mile away. Like I said above I'll update this thread in the future with the outcome. |

![]() Also, I don't recommend putting "all input is welcome" if you're going to get upset about conflicting opinions. Seems like from the beginning you knew exactly what you wanted to do, wanted to get affirmation from others about cops writing "chickenshit quota" tickets, and then when people told you what they thought and it wasn't what you were expecting, you didn't like it.... ![]()

I'm fairly sure being mature and following rules is a sign of growing up and becoming a man. Also, owning up to breaking the rules is also a sign of maturity. I almost hate to do this, but..... here's the same kind of logic: Quote:
Unfortunately, it seems like you're pretty immature. If you're going to speed, you acknowledge taking the risk. Don't go bum out later and whine that it's not fair. If you encounter a situation, you should know the stakes and decide if the (potential) consequences are worth it to you or not. Not go all later.Anywho, my two cents.

I'm mainly interested in advice with previous experiences in fighting tickets. All the judgment and strong reactions is entertaining however. Just to be clear I was not tail gating the car in front of me it was just a large enough car that the cops couldn't see me until the stop sign, the driver in front was going faster than me then stomped the brakes when they saw the cop. This is why I think the cops assumed I was going faster than I was. Firs ticket in many years of driving and it was minor and by accident. I do feel the incident was exaggerated by the officer which is why I intend to fight it. |

Always fight every ticket. One guy I know was paced by a cop. He went to fight it, asked the cop to produce records of when the police cruiser had its tire pressures checked, or the speedometer calibrated lol, crazy questions. He was facing something like a $250 fine and 4 points. It got bumped down to $40, no points. There is no direct measurement of your speed and you were moving with the traffic. Your chances are okay.

How do you know the cop didn't clock you though? Are you just assuming that because you are thinking you were to close to the extremely large sedan for the radar to pick you up? They could have been using laser and in that case they can very accurately pinpoint one car vs another. I ask because I've never had a cop give me a ticket and simply pick a number out of their head and admit that they didn't actually clock me. I have been pulled over before and have a cop tell me I was doing for example 60 when I know I was doing 90 and then when they come back with the ticket it will be written for 55 and they tell me they are cutting me a break.
I'm not sure if anyone has said this yet but you can avoid tickets by not speeding. Hahaha. Just messing with you. :P |

.. sigh.. I only stole a few hundred bucks. I only groped her once or twice. I fed my dog every couple days....
I'm not wild about income tax, so I don't pay it. I don't like clothing, so I don't wear it in public. SUCH STUPID. MUCH SELFISH. Not my word, but.. well... yeah, those two statements kind of do. I'm sure there's more to you than those two statements, however, and thankfully.

Some of these comparisons are over the top and ridiculous. Lets try to remember it was a speeding ticket, that's it.
OP drive the speed limit in residential areas and school zones. They're the perfect place to get nabbed. I know you said it was more rural, but these areas should be watched like a hawk, especially for kids. |

Just an FYI cops do not have a ticket quota. That is a myth. However cops do profile who you are and what you drive and how old you are. Cops love to ticket youngsters who speed and drive loud cars. Having a modified car on the streets is a cop magnet. I got pulled over doing 63 in a 50. Got let off with a warning. Be respectful have everything in hand. Don't lie or bullshit the dude. Remember cops are people to. How you act will typically dictate how the interaction will go. Think of it this way do you really think he wants to do all this paperwork that will take him hours to do?
Just an aside I work in very closely with local police and one of my supervisors is a reserve police officer.
