Doing all this research on how to lift the twins is kind of mindfuck for me! I'm trying to lift my BRZ and put some meaty offroader tires on it. Not just for aesthetics, but for practicality - I have 3/4 busted Enkei TS10 wheels just from daily driving it on our shitty NYC roads!
I've decided to get the 2-inch spacers from Anderson Design Fab, but still not sure about which coilovers and which wheels will fit. When I've emailed Anderson Design, they said it's best to keep stock coilovers because their spacers are solid at the top. But I still want that adjustability. Will these wheels at least work? 42mm or 48mm offset? Focal X As far as tires, I'm thinking General Grabber AT2 |

I am now thinking of getting the Subtle Solutions spacers instead. Since they have a hole through, so coilovers shouldn't be a problem. |

Antonovich: i suggest to be careful if choosing too thick of a spacers. I somewhat expect similar issues as to overlowered car but now with too much of a lift. As in geometry issues like changed rollcenter, too much of an angle of axles to now too high placed diff. And if there are parts to correct such things for cars lowered too much, i haven't heard for such for too lifted twins. And if "safe/reasonable" range to not require other parts is often considered within 1" of lowering, i guess it might be similar for lift, as in still reasonable if within 1", even if even thicker spacers exist, eg. like your linked 1.5" ones. Probably because they are reused from imprezas/foresters with similar sized topmounts.
Of course, one is complete rally build with most of suspension parts designed custom anew and strenghtened and with proper suspension knowledge behind .. but if you are in this thread, i guess you plan for "mild rallying" with mostly stock parts? Then imho springs like these + some extra engine protection plate + being reasonable with not too much offroading/jumping should do. |

Antonovich: If you didn't scrape but busted few wheels .. i wouldn't try to lift as much if doing that at all. Rather just get stronger wheels and of smaller diameter, so that tire used is of higher sidewall. Many gravel rally wheels will fit the bill. They won't be light, but they will be extra strong, after all, some of them are meant to finish the race even on punctured tire. Most of 16" of such should clear our stock brakes with ease. There are even some 15" that may fit, but it's harder to find clearing wheel model/size/offset, but possible. Slight acceleration loss from upping tire overall diameter, as eg. Leonardo suggested, for even more sidewall height increase, may help too. Of course, steering may become less sharp .. but then again, one needs to choose, track toy on good tarmac or something that can be driven over awful potholes without minding.

Also, copy-pasta from another thread, hoping more people would see and maybe help me further. So yesterday I've installed Anderson Design & Fab 2-inch spacers and changed the wheels from 225/35R18 to 215/65R16. Took me like 6 hours (mostly because of my own incompetence). And I got...mixed results. First of all it definitely feels more comfortable driving (which is one of the things I was going for), there is minimal rubbing - mostly at full lock. But I also get a strange knocking sound at the front from small bumps. Like metal on metal. I'm thinking it might be the end links because the actual coilovers sitting much lower now, so the end links or sway bar is hitting something. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd appreciate any feedback on this issue. Edit: also I got a little over excited with the impact gun, screwing in the wheel nuts, and I kind of stripped a small portion of one of the wheel hub screws.
