Again last to the party.
I have had the friction material come off the backing plate witch then allows the thin backing plat to slide out of the caliper.

That's good to hear. You sound like a really good guy to have as a friend. Glad you got the issue sorted out. One of the cool things about situations like this are the stories they become years down the road. My friends and I have long talks over beer punctuated by hysterical laughter recounting our many foibles and stupid mistakes. Laughing at ourselves is one of the keys to maintaining sanity.

Perhaps we ought to start a thread - "Funny Fuckups" or some such.

Haha I have had plenty that is for sure. Key is I am still alive to talk about them.

New rotors are on. Correct rotors this time haha. Contacted the original vendor that sold me the (incorrect) rotors and pads just to let them know in case other people run into this what happened. They offered to refund me for the rotors and pads I had to buy to replace the wrong ones. So once the refund comes through I will start a glowing thread about their customer support!

If the refund actually comes through I will be pretty blown away with that customer service because as established the wrong rotors were bought and used for 3 years before the problem reared up.
